problems with puppetd on some of my solaris machines
I am having troubles with getting puppetd running on some of my Solaris10 update 7 (05/2009) boxes. I use Jumpstart to build my servers, so the installation is repeatable, consistent, and automated, so it is especially confusing that some boxes work, and others don''t. I can ssh into both of these machines, so the host certs should be OK. As part of my installation, I download the

access denied with "hide dot files = Yes"
Hello, at our site we're using the revision control software Mercurial. A typical workflow scenariao is that we have a Mercurial repository on a Samba AD Member share and the users pull and push commits to this central repository. This workflow is broken as of Samba 4.3.4. When doing certain operations (pull or push) on the central repository on the Samba share, Mercurial complains that it

%g Variable of smb.conf
Hi, I planned to use the %g Variable in the "template homedir" section, but this Variable only gives me the gid, not the name of the group as mentioned in "man smb.conf". Anyway, if I use %g or %G no difference. [global] interfaces = 127.0.0.1 eth0 bind interfaces only = true workgroup = WG realm = WG.LOCAL security = ads password server = vmix7.WG.LOCAL

Strange problems with ADS-groups and winbindd
Hello, we experience some strange problems with group memberships of ADS users using samba v3.2.4 on SLES-9. An upgrade to v3.2.7 didn't help. Changes to the membership of users in ADS universal groups doesn't take effect at all or take long time (1 day) to be seen on the linux side. For example the command "net" shows the following GIDs of a user: # for i in $(net ads

Samba integration with AD
I know this question has been posed over and over (and over) again, but I'm at my wit's end. I've dug into the Samba docs, Gentoo specific docs, and PAM docs, and Googled the heck out of it... In any event, I'm running Gentoo 2006.0 (just built) running kernel 2.6.15 and Samba 3.0.21b. I'm 'trying' to set up a simple file server with SSO capabilities to a 2K AD

wbinfo -r 'username' displays inconsistent results across DC's
Hello,     Looking up a users group membership I'm showing different results on each DC. UID and GID mapping appears consistent but not all group membership is displayed. I've verified idmap.ldb is backup up and copied over to the other DC's. I do notice when taking a hot backup of idmap.ldb, the file size is dramatically smaller than the original. Using Microsoft RSAT to view

wbinfo / Could not convert sid to gid / uid
Hello My is environment: Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, Squid 2.6.18, Samba 3.0.28a For Squid I need the query of a global group from Active Directory 2003. This works beautifully, but unfortunately not always. There are global groups which works to transform and others where it does not work. Here are my entries for test: # wbinfo -n nobadurl S-1-5-21-986273330-1409306274-1541874228-9965 Domain Group
