Hello there,
I have winbind configured and working fine on a Solaris 8 machine
pam is configured ok (I guess) as telnet/su'ing/smb access is working
fine, OpenSSH 3.9 is configured with the following options:

--with-default-path=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/

What does this error mean and can I fix it.
This is true with OpenSsh 3.8p1 and OpenSsh 3.9p1. I am running on Sun
Solaris servers, both Solaris 8 and Solaris 9.
I send all ssh syslog messages to local3 via the sshd_config file. I
periodically get in my error logs the line:
Oct 4 15:29:36 wintermute sshd[14517]: [ID 800047 local3.error] error:

I do not think this is interfering with any

Problem with non-interactive shells on Sol8 with 3.7.1p1
We recently started upgrading OpenSSH on our Sol8 systems and we've run
into a problem were we can run commands on a remote system since we
installed 3.7.1p1. The debug output from sshd is attached below. We use
PAM in our environment, and have since 2.9.9p2. I think most of the
systems were running 3.4p1 prior installing 3.7.1p1 and they were working

rc15 dumped core
We have been running rc15 since Sunday experiencing no trouble,
but today one user crashed.
rc15 on Solaris-5.9, the server had app 6GB free memory at the time
of the crash, app 70% idle running with an avg.load at 4 of 8
processors available. The USER's INBOX was quite smooth, app 13MB
containing 320 messages.
The core dump was accompanied with these log-entries:

Conflict between LDAP and Privilege Separation?
Hi all.
OpenSSH_4.1p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7g 11 Apr 2005 on Solaris 8 using host-based
authentication.
With "PrivilegeSeparation yes" and "UsePAM no" everything works as
desired. If I enable PAM, I am able to connect, but just before it
gives me a shell, it disconnects. If I leave PAM enabled and disable
PrivilegeSeparation, it works.
Is this a current limitation, or is there

pam_smbpass.so on AIX
Yet another odd one...
I've got it set up now so that swat uses pam_smbpass.so, and once a user logs into swat at least once, it'll update their password in the passdb backend configured for Samba. But, I also need to ensure that when a user changes their password via passwd, it also gets updated. I added the following in /etc/security/login.cfg:
usw:
auth_type = PAM_AUTH

director + lmtp + ldap user
Hi,
recently I have migrated our prevoius dovecot-lda to 2.2 with director + lmtp.
And we are having some issues.
When lmtp delivers to ldap uid names everything works except sieve
vacation (login is not found in headers so reply is not sent).
When using full email addresses in rcpt to vacation works but
usernames are inconsistent (one user can login using his email
address, or aliases,

Rsync on webserver
Here is the problem.
I have a primary and a secondary web server. I want to sync the home
directory paths on the primary server with the secondary server. I am
fairly ignorant to rsync and wondering what is the best method of doing this
and how would I call the procedure from say a "perl script".
Both Servers are FreeBSD 4.2 and there are actually two directorys I want
to sync 1)

Dovecot (director, lmtp) IPv4/IPv6?
Hello,
I'm build system with two director/proxy and dual stack network (or
IPv6-only local services)
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Director say "This also means that a single
director ring must use either IPv4 or IPv6 addresses, but not both at
the same time." OK
All servers have 2 interface (public and local network), and all dual
stack IPv4/IPv6, imap/pop (mail) and lmtp (mx) proxy run

Stable Rsync System Call!
Next week are going to start using rsync "live" to mirror our primary and

rsync version 2.6.3 protocol version 28 - hosts allow dows not work
Hello all. Rsync rocks, however I am having problems with two things:
1. The hosts allow directive does not allow the use of a hostname. (DNS is
working for I can do a NSLOOKUP on the hostname and it resolves). If I put
the IP address it works fine, problem is that we run DHCP at the office
and my lease expires every 4 days.
2. Rsync is not logging to /var/log/rsyncd.log.
The following is my

strange password problem with rsync
Hi guys, I am experiencing a very strange problem with passwords and
username with rsync.
I have a "auth users" line in my /etc/rsyncd.conf file (see below) and a
corresponding username and password in my /etc/rsyncd.secrets. The strange
thing is is that authentication for the module listed in /etc/rsyncd.conf
(unixadm) only works IF the username in /etc/rsyncd.secrets is the same as
