AD Group update lag / cache, firewall related?
It's not offline.... and groups do usually filter through... sometimes immediately, sometimes never... but usually with a significant delay... I originally put this down to the ancient version of Samba or Winbind that was shipped with the OS, but it seems I was wrong... Winbind can see the group, and even the group membership... and the group is passed on to the OS, but not the group

Windows pre-requisites for login with winbind?
Hi, Rowland You were right, it was the Domain Users issue. After setting the gidnumber to a number inside range, users are there. Thank You. And as of change from AD to RIS, the 'net cache flush' is not enough. For the record, I must have rebooted the server. Probably the records have been stored in some NIS cache or so too, that I don't know how to flush on-the-fly. After the

Thank you Rowland, I do not change my existing configuration as far i have already indicate winbind value on both passwd and group lines in nsswitch.conf. But i execute the net cahe flush command and then try getent command by providing the user name and it works. winbind, nsswitch, AD and group membership caching?
Folks; using samba+winbindd+pam+nsswitch to make several Linux servers authenticate against an AD domain, I do have my setup mostly working now: - AD users are able to ssh into the machine. - wbinfo -g / -u does list all domain users. - getent group / getent passwd does list Unix and AD users. However, after changing some users group memberships in AD, I didn't manage to propagate this

"getent passwd testuser" returns nothing unless testuser is in the local passwd file, and then it returns the attributes that are in the passwd file, not the AD system. It always will if you have a local user with the same name

AD Group update lag / cache, firewall related?
Hey again all, After the rather excellent assistance from a few of you on the list over the last week... I wonder if you will be able to answer the cause of another rather long standing issue I've had for a long while. We have a couple of Linux hosts using winbind for authentication, and AD groups for access to various privileges... but for some reason or another... possible firewalls

Problems with winbind cache
Hi guys!! I'm facing problem with Samba 4 + winbind that I spent some days to solve that without success and I'll appreciate any help. I self compile samba 4 and apparently everything is working fine. I installed samba on six distributed servers at remote branch offices and all users, groups, dns and other components are replicating with success. But last week I saw that windind
