\PIPE\NETLOGON (NT_STATUS_DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_NOT_FOUND)
Help,
wbinfo -t fails with the error in subject, and getting sids of groups that
aren't BUILTIN fail. Everything else seems to work. Note: I am not
converting my kerberos tickets to krb4, is this necessary? (It used to work
without it..but now it seems not to work.) I get no errors from kinit.
all other wbinfo requests succeed with the exception of looking up the SIDS of

Samba 3.0.21b winbind crash
I'm using Samba 3.0.21b on SuSE 9.3 Pro (x86) with the binary RPMs from samba.org/suse.com (3.0.21b-1.1.2-SUSE-SL9.3) on a Domain Member Server in ADS mode with winbind against W2K3 SP1 AD servers and idmap uids/gids stored in a central OpenLDAP directory.
Unfortunately, winbind gives me a hard time and reproducibly dies with a PANIC on a "wbinfo -g", although I think I've

Interdomain Trust, wbinfo works on both servers, getent doesn't work on one server
Hi
I have a problem with an interdomain trust where on the PDC for DomainA,
everything works perfectly. getent returns local and DomainB usernames.
On the PDC for DomainB, it's DomainB works fine, but getent only returns
local usernames and groups, it doesn't return the usernames or groups for
DomainA. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g work fine and return all DomainA's
usernames and groups.

winbind lookup errors
Hello Samba folks,
I have recently begun seeing some disturbing behavior from winbind.
Winbind will fail to look up users and groups. Examples:
The machine is configured to use winbind as a nss module.
"getent passwd <username>" will yield no results.
"wbinfo -n <username>" will yield "Could not lookup name <username>"
"wbinfo -g"

Samba 3/ADC/Winbind problem
Greetings all.
I am banging my head about this one, I will try to be as specific as
possible, bear with me please.
I have a W2KDC ADC, and trying to join a Samba 3 linux workstation to it.
What works:
net join: succeeded
wbinfo -t: checking the trust secret via RPC calls succeeded
wbinfo -m: return to prompt, no output
wbinfo -u: correct list of local + AD members

Using idmap_rid backend, cannot browse home directory from XP
Samba version is 3.0.10 on Gentoo linux. I am trying
to use idmap_rid backend in a Windows AD environment,
the Linux PC acting only as a domain member. I am
using idmap_rid because I need UID/GID predictability.
I can log in to console correctly, and it shows the
right user and the "Domain Users" as the group.
When I use default winbind TDB, I can browse the home
directory from an XP

Samba 4.2.10 AD DC not resolving user groups anymore
Hi list,
I just upgraded an AD DC from 4.1.17 to 4.2.10 (using jessie package),
wbinfo -r someuser now fails randomly (well not THAT randomly I guess it
depends on group membership)
$ wbinfo -r oneuser
failed to call wbcGetGroups: WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND
Could not get groups for user oneuser
$ wbinfo -r anotheruser
[list of GIDs]
wbinfo -u & wbinfo -g returns no error
wbinfo -i oneuser

FW: getent & winbindd on FreeBSD 5.4
I posted my original post to FreeBSD-questions@freebsd.org and since then
have had a running dialog with another poster. It now seems I am having
trouble with the NSSWITCH function. I am now reporting back to the Samba
list in hopes someone can help me out at this point.
Can anyone help me out here?

winbind: wbinfo -g sees "domain users", getent group does not
I have configured winbind on a Linux file server, connecting to a
Samba PDC. When I run wbinfo -g, I can see the group "domain users".
On the other hand, when I run getent group, I do not see this group.
Apart from a few other groups, all groups are visibile in both wbinfo
-g and getent group.
When running for the first time wbinfo -u, getent passwd and wbinfo
-g, I got the results

Samba 3.5.6 pam problems
Hi,
I've setup Samba 3.5.6 as a member server in a 2003R2 domain with a
single dc, idmapping is by rfc2307 with a tdb backend for builtin
accounts etc, I can list users and groups using wbinfo and I can
create shares and access them from the windows server, files and
folders owned by ad users show the correct user and group names so
mapping appears to be working, I can su to ad accounts but I

wbinfo -r returns only 16 groups (sometimes)
Something we noticed after upgrading from 3.0.14a to 3.0.20 and still a
problem with 3.0.23c on Solaris 9 Sparc. Windows 2003 server running
Active Directory. The examples below are all with 3.0.23c downloaded
last week and compiled from source using gcc 3.3.something. 3.0.14a
works perfectly using the same smb.conf.
We use Samba to do proxy authentication for squid using ntlm_auth and

WinXP SP2 winlogon.exe blue screen to death
Hi there,
I have another problem on WinXP SP2 with samba.3.0.20a. Somehow, in a random
situation, once user logged onto the workstations, they were prompted with
the winlogon.exe Fatal error + blue screen to death then self-reboot. When I
checked out the log from windows, it said there's problem on msgina.dll from
WinXP SP2. However, another user can successfully logon to the same
workstation

Samba 3.0.26a, windows 2k3 r2 SFU, problems with auth/nss
Dear samba list,
For some time we've had servers connecting to a w2k3 r2 server via
ADS setup. Wins was working fine and users were able to authenticate.
Recently we've added a GFS like system. This required getting the
UID/GID's unified. Suggestions were made on the samba IRC channel to
install SFU on the PDC. I'm receiving some very strange output.
Usernames/pwd have

User idmap lost
Back on February 28, 2018, I started a thread "User permissions of
profile/home directory lost" describing a problem occurring with my
wife's user account. Since that time the random problem has persisted so
I turned on some debugging. I have been able to determine that somehow
her account idmap is broken. Here is the entry for my wife's SID as
found in the idmap.ldb file

Windows group file permission problem
CentOS 3.5
samba3-3.0.20a-24
Security ADS
I can't get windows group permissions on shares to work except for 'domain users'. The windows group I am trying to use is Unix.Samba. This group does not exist on the linux box. It resolves correctly using getent group and when I chgrp files to unix.samba, ls shows the group ownership as Unix.Samba. getent group shows this group with the
