Can't authenticate to mount mapped drives
Hi,
Every time I try to access the mapped drive in Windows to the
Unix box, I get username/password prompt. No changes to the smb.config file
has been made, we only tried restarting the samba service. What am I doing
wrong? Attached is the smb.conf file and log files for nmdb and my pc log
file.

Delay on first Attempt to resolve PDC host name
I am using samba 2.2.1a , in an NT-4 domain.
security = DOMAIN
on the first logon to the samba server,
I can see a message:
Attempting host lookup for name MYPDCNAME<0x20>
the next message appears after 10 seconds (that is the delay). samba tries
to resolve MYPDCNAME with the wins server, and succeeds.
Higher debug level (debug level = 10) does not produce more debug messages.
Any ideas

Unable to use Samba in Win2K Domain
Hello. We recently migrated our site from an NT domain model to a 2000 domain
model (active directory). In the process, I've found that I'm unable to use
Samba with our new domain. These same machines were able to function properly
as domain
I've tried samba versions 2.2.2 and 3.0alpha12. The systems running Samba
are all running Solaris 8. Prior to the migrated to Active

OK, I've got the following problem:
I just installed Samba-2.2.4 on a kind of LFS. The client seems to work well (at least on remote machines), but when I try to print the local share list..... here it goes:

Error looking up domain users
Hello list,
I'm runnung samba 2.2.4 on solaris 2.6 using winbind for account management. The samba server is a member server in a w2k domain.
I've tested winbind in two different w2k domain (test and productive) with the same settings and analogue entries in the smb.conf.
In the one w2k domain all run properly, in the other one I can join the domain (wbinfo -t tells secret is good), but

smbclient -M/session request failed
Hi Folks!
I try to send a popup via "smbclient -M" from a sun (SunOS 5.8, Samba
2.0.7, hostname "sonne") to a WinXP (hostname "dezntmneubeck_x") but it
fails. Both machines are in the same physical network. All I get are the
following lines:
root@sonne(1017)/> smbclient -s /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf -M dezntmneubeck_x

Winbind + machine account + non-anonymous access (RestrictAnonymous)
Hi everybody,
my (our) goal here is to setup a samba server in a NT domain (and
eventually in a Win2k domain - but for now I just want to test it on NT)
and have it act like a member server - meaning that I don't use the
local user database but instead assing permissions of shares to domain
users and groups.
To avoid having to administer both users in the NT domain and on the

No access to machine shares in Samba Domain
Hello All,
I have a Linux box running RH9 and Samba 2.2.7 as domain controller.
Last week, we bought a new (better!) box and migrated our Samba
installation to the new box and apparently everything was working fine,
until we noticed that shares created in the Windows machines are not
accessible by anyone in the domain.
I've read all the docs and everything seems ok, but I can't get
