ADS and samba domain member: ads_connect: Cannot resolve network address for KDC in requ
Thanks, Unfortunately, I still got the same error. I may be wrong, but it is like it does the automatic lookup process of kdc instead of using the krb5.conf file. However, as per my note below, if I do add bad config info to the krb5.conf, it does complain. Samba/LDAP and home dir creation
Hi, all. I'm working on a project to create a Samba PDC with LDAP authentication. I've been pretty successful in getting everything to work. However, I've run into a small snag: The PDC is built on an OpenSuse 11.2 box. Most of the member servers are also OpenSuse 11.2 boxes. However, a CentOS 5.5 server was just added to the mix. While users can lo into the CentOS box,

Winbind and email server
Folks, Sincere apologies for asking this again, but I'm just not getting this to work, and must be missing something here: My company's network is based around a Windows 2003 server AD, with several RHEL AS 3 boxes connected to it via samba (3.0.21c-1). ?This scheme works very well. ?I've set up, and have successfully been using a sendmail-based email system, too. My issue is

Access Based Enumeration
Microsoft has an add on for Windows 2003 SP1 that will do access based enumeration. This is great because of "out of sight, out of mind". If the user doesn't have privilege to access the directory or file it doesn't show up in the directory listing. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/techinfo/overview/abe.mspx Any idea when samba will be able to do the same (if it

must change password flag doesn't reset ?
Hi I've searched the archives but did not spot this particular issue there. Config. RH8, Samba 3.0.2a. Auth via smbpasswd. I have a small office network where one of the accounts has had there password expire and resetting the password just went round in loops. I've tried removing the password synching from smb.conf and removing the user from smbpasswd and re-creating their account

Browse lists & 3.0.x
I have a mixed network with both XP and ME clients. I'm going round in circles trying to find out why half the machines, that is half the XP and half the ME, don't show up in the browse lists. I have searched through the archives and, while I can see similar problems, I did not find a solution to this one. Can someone give me some pointers to a solution please? Thanks Alan

XP SP2 connecting to 3.0.10-1.4E
I have been running our companies XP Pro systems on our Samba domain controller (version: 3.0.10-1.4E) with local administrative rights up to this point. Everything has worked fine. We are getting larger now and I'd like to make the logins locally restricted (I want them to have XP's "Users" rights and "Remote Desktop Users" only). When I restrict the accounts

help for an R automated procedures
Dear, I would like to post the following question to the r-help on Nabble (thanks in advance for the attention, Gustavo Vieira): Hi there. I have a data set on hands with 5,220 cases and I'd like to automate some procedures (but I have almost no programming knowledge). The data has some continuous variables that are grouped by 2 others: the name of species and the locality where they were

smbmount and win2003 sp1
Hi All: I encountered a problem with smbmount and win2003 sp1. Before I upgrade sp1, everything works fine. But after sp1, smbmount = can't work. The command and error message are as follows: smbmount //localhost/share1 /tmp/mountest -o = username=3Ddomainu1,password=3Dpassword ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access Denied.) SMB connection failed I also checked the release note about the issue, and

Users unable to change their passwords using 200/XP change password dialouge.
I've just found out today that my system won't let users (2000 and XP clients) change their passwords. >From their consoles they get permission denied messages. Looking at the logs its clearly a Samba/PAM interaction issue but all looks OK in the pam.d directory. I've spent a few hours searching online but can't find anything that match's this scenario. any feedback on XL Solutions Courses for R?
About a week ago, XL Solutions Corporation posted to this list with a solicitation for course offerings in R. I looked at their site, and many courses do look interesting. Can anyone provide feedback on the quality of their courses? [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Windows Server 2003 SP 1
Samba 3.0.11 with Winbind running on Redhat Enterprise Linux 3, compiled with --with-pam (possibly another argument that I can't remember at this second). I applied it to my DC that is playing the PDC role today and all of a sudden Winbind could not enumerate any Active Directory information. Mind you, I'm not joined to the domain using Kerberos/ADS; the libs that come with RHEL3 are

Counting the occurence of each unique "charecter string"
LS, I would really like to know how to count the frequency/occurrence of chachters inside a dataset. I am working with extreemly large datasets of forest inventory data with a large variety of different species inside it. Each row inside the dataframe represents one individual tree and the simplified dataframe looks something like this: num species dbh 1 sp1

W2K3 SP1 - PERSISTENT CONNECTION(S) BUG?
After testing my W2K3 SP1 terminal server against a SAMBA server *AND* a W2K server, I have noticed the following *odd* behavior. LOGIN: Map drive letters LOGOUT: Connections are still connected. on BOTH W2K and SAMBA file servers. LOGIN: Map drive letters LOGOUT: Now you have TWO sets of connections still connected for the one user. REPEAT: For each time you repeat the above procedure, you

data transformation
Dear all, how can I, with R, transform a presence-only table (with the names of the species (1st column), the lat information of the sites (2nd column) and the lon information of the sites (3rd column)) into a presence-absence (0/1) matrix of species occurrences across sites, as given in the below example? Thanks a lot for your help! Christian My initial table: species lat lon sp1 10 10
