Fwd: Follow Up - Problem with groups & joining domain.- LDAP
Follow up to original post.
If I created local groups and users in /etc/passwd &
/etc/groups I get farther along.
For instance, if I have a Samba PDC with LDAP basically like I listed
in my post. If I browse from a w2k pro box to the samba server
without the workstation having joined the domain, I can authenticate
to the samba server with a user who is not in /etc/passwd but is in
LDAP. So

Problem Connecting from Windows to Samba-OpenLDAP PDC
Every time I try to add a pc to the domain I get the response that it
is an un-recognized user name. I have followed the instructions
located here:

and am setting it up on a copy of Fedora Core 4 using the default
installed packages and versions. I am also unable to complete step

Problem with User and Group Ownership listing
I am installing smb 3.5 on a CentOS 6.2 host using smbldap-tools. I've
previously installed a similar configuration on RHEL4 using smb 3.0 but
CentOS now uses nss-pam-ldapd and nslcd instead of nss_ldap, so the
configurations cannot be moved straight across.
When I do a listing of a share directory that should have user and group
ownership determined by LDAP, I get the uidNumbers and

LDAP users/groups not showing up with nis, pam, & ldap
I am trying to configure NIS, PAM, & LDAP on a CentOS 6.2 host. I've
previously installed a similar configuration on RHEL4, but CentOS now
uses nss-pam-ldapd and nslcd instead of nss_ldap, so the configurations
are a little different.
Currently, local users and groups are showing up but not LDAP users.
When I do a /getent passwd/ and/getent group/ I don't get LDAP users.

Authentication via PAM posixAccounts in RH EL ASv3
To anyone who can help,
I'm trying to setup samba to authenticate through PAM (ldap) but can't
find /consistent/ documentation for this.
POP/IMAP/ and local login works via pam_ldap, and samba was compiled
--with-pam.
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had any joy with this setup.

Weird statup probems TLS & SSL openldap and samba 3.0.23
Hello,
I am kind of confused with this situation. I am attempting to build a
PDC using TLS/SSL with the following version of software.
Samba 3.0.23
OpenLDAP 2.3.19
Fedora Core 5
When I startup the Samba server via the "service" command (service smb
start) I get the following errors in my logs.

samba pdc with ldap backend setup problems
Greetings...
I'm struggling trying to set up a samba 3.0.23c PDC with ldap
backend. The server is Fedora 5, OpenLdap version 2.3.19-4.
I've got it so smbd and nmbd start properly and I can use a windows
box and see the domain using srvmgr.exe and usrmgr.exe. I'm then
able to signon from a windows XP computer with the command
net use \\pdcserver\ipc$ /user:root rootpassword

Who is using the TPA processor? Is this generally useful, or specific
to your research program?

[LLVMdev] GSoC 2009: An LLVM Backend for TPA
Hi all,
I'd like to write an LLVM backend for TPA processor architecture as part of
2009's Google Summer of Code program.
TPA processor is a new architecture that offers the possibility of high
instruction-level parallelism with energy efficiency. TPA architecture
partitions the work between the compiler and the hardware differently from
RISC and CISC architectures. TPA architecture has

wrong userPassword hash generated by smbpasswd (pam_password=exop and smbk5pwd ) on a samba+ldap PDC running on FreeBSD
Hello everybody,
I've setup a SAMBA 3.0.X (3.0.32 right now) PDC with a LDAP backend
running on FreeBSD 6.3 some time ago and users can't just

Windows, include non-ascii character (such as french letter like "?"

I guess that they must some kind of charset issue but i just don't

Getting Winbind IDMAP into LDAP?
Hi,
I?ve been trying to populate an LDAP directory with IDMAP information from
Winbind using NSS_LDAP without much success over the last week.
Can anybody tell me if I?ve done anything obviously wrong?
I?ve followed the example shown in the Samba ?By Example? doc and am at the
stage where the LDAP directory has been created and configured, NSS_LDAP
config is amended, smb.conf contains entries to

nss_ldap: reconnected to LDAP server ldap://127.0.0.1
Hello, I have a problem that I'm really having trouble figuring out. I
run CentOS Linux 5.5. I have three servers. All have been setup and
running with LDAP authentication for a couple years with absolutely no
problems.
Unfortunately a couple weeks ago, we had a power outage. Ever since, I
am having continuous problems with authentication to the server. I see

smbldap-tools broken pipe
Hi,
I am working on establishing a Samba+LDAP server with management by the
smbldap tools from idealx. Versions are Samba 3.0.14a, OpenLDAP 2.2.24,
smbldap tools 0.8.8 all on Solaris 8. I'm thinking I have a problem with
my perl (perhaps), version 5.8.5, as I keep getting "Broken pipe" messages
when using smbldap-populate, smbldap-groupadd, etc. Google produced no

multicolumn sort on dataframe?
I couldn't find any reference to this in the FAQ, but is it possible to sort
a dataframe by multiple columns?
I've created some code, similar to the following:
nspr.code <- sp.results$sp.code[order( sp.results$sp.code )]
nspr.tpa <- sp.results$tpa[order( sp.results$sp.code )]
nspr.code <- as.character( levels( nspr.code ) )[nspr.code]
nspr.tpa <- as.numeric( levels( nspr.tpa

Every user in LDAP queried when one user logs on.
Hi
I have configured a machine to authenticate against LDAP. When I log onto the box using the newly created user I see a LDAP search request for every user that exist in the directory. If I have only 20 users even a 100 that is not a problem but when I start going to 10000 users I start getting some weird errors and timeouts because of the time it takes to download the data to the client.
