RedHat EL 3 rpm spec file and samba 3.0.14a?
Is the RedHat RPM spec file included with the samba-3.0.14a.tar.gz source files compatible with RedHat EL 3? In other words, are the locations for the various support directories (/var/lib/samba, /var/cache/samba, etc.) the same between the RedHat EL 3 version of samba (currently stuck at 3.0.9, I think) and the official samba.org <http://samba.org> versions? File listing problems in 3.0.13
Over the weekend I upgraded my IRIX servers to 3.0.13 and have found many strange issues regarding the creation of new folders. When I attempt to add a new folder through the Windows side I get an immediate error dialog box stating "You may not be able to access file created in the folder X:\New Folder." When I select to continue the folder is created, looking on the IRIX side the

OT Windows policy question
List, Thanks tremendously to JC and JHT for guiding (nay, kicking) me toward getting ACLs to work on RHAS3. Reading the RH sysadmin guide about ACLs and searching elsewhere, as well as thinking for myself, were also a pre. Now for something completely different: High school in Amsterdam Netherlands: - RHAS3 - Samba 3.0.11 RPC, not ADS (no way we're upgrading while the bug reports keep

If the first LDAP server faild, the second can be used directly. This server is a PDC server with more than 100 people connected and some application required domain authentification for running. For me is a critical server. ----------------------------------- St?phane PURNELLE stephane.purnelle@corman.be Service Informatique Corman S.A. Tel : 00 32

smbclient - recently broken?
Hello all, forgive me if this is old news but it seems to me that smbclient is prone to getting into an infinite loop when mget'ting a stack of files. I have tested (compiled from source with defaults) samba versions 3.0.10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 14a Versions prior to 3.0.13 are fine, in my environment, versions 3.0.13 and later are causing the problem. The basic data on my system is -a P4 3.2

Hi, I have a samba server which act as file/print/wins server and PDC with ldap backend & ACL support (samba-3.0.23). I plan to start a new server which replace the old one. My question is about the samba version, my first advice is the use samba-3.0.28a. But maybe is preferable to wait samba 3.2.0. What type of bugs samba-3.0.28a have ? The new sever will act as samba/print server and

St?phane, The book "Samba-3 by Example" is being reprinted very soon. Up to date builds of the PDF are available on the Samba web site daily. This document can be downloaded from: http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/Samba-Guide.pdf In chapter 5 I have fully documented how Samba-3 can be deployed with LDAP and using the smbldap-tools. It works perfectly for me and in many sites that
