Poor Samba Preformance
I recently upgraded a part of my network to Gigabit ethernet, basically between my Linux machine and my main windows machine, is now gigabit. The problem is that, and the whole reason I went with it, is to get faster speeds with samba. I've only been able to get 13.4 MB/s as a maximum transfer speed. I don't expect to be able to get 125 MB/s. If I use HTTP I can get around 18 MB/s,

how much bandwidth to dedicate?
I want to provide internet to home users with 256 Kbps and I have a 3 Mbps dedicated internet connection. Do you think It''s ok to split the 3 Mbps in 480 users? Thanks, -- Nicolas _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list / LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/mailman/listinfo/lartc HOWTO: http://lartc.org/

Bandwidth optimisation
OS: CentOS 5.0 x86. Hi, I am using CentOS 5.0 at home, ADSL ~16 Mbps/~1 Mbps Internet connection and my ping time to my ISP is 160-170 msec. When downloading something with Firefox, I am getting download speeds of about 100-180 KB/sec (for example when downloading SP2 of XP from MS server). Are the CentOS networking settings OK for this kind of latency, or do I have to change some settings?

GS BT102 dual ethernet port -bandwidth impact
FYI for anyone using the dual ethernet ports on a Grandstream BT102. I'm using a BT102 connected to an HP2524 10/100 switch, which has an asterisk box connected directly to it. No VLANs defined or in use. Measured bandwidth: PC -> HP Switch -> Asterisk : actual throughput measured at 94.1 mbps. PC -> BT102 -> HP Switch -> Asterisk : actual measured at 8.86 mbps. The

Limited write bandwidth from ext3
We are running a benchmark that does single threaded 512 KB writes to a LUN on a CLARiiON storage array. The dual Xeon host (Dell 2650) with 4 GB of memory runs RHEL 4U3 We measured the write bandwidth for writes to the block device corresponding to the lun (e.g. /dev/sdb), a file in an ext2 filesystem and to a file in an ext3 file system. Re: Your computer account was not found or the password was incorrect
Hey guys, I'm trying to migrate my NT4 Domain and am having some problems. Ignoring my other post related to this, I can't get any of my machines to be able to login. Alls I ever get is "Your computer account was not found or the password is incorrect" I even tried rejoining the domain which works. I leave the domain and then rejoin it, it takes a LONG time (might just be

IPFW Bandwidth throttling?
I am trying to limit outgoing SMTP traffic to about 14 Mbps and these are the IPFW rules I am using. ${fwcmd} add pipe 1 tcp from 192.168.0.0/24 to any 25 out via dc0 ${fwcmd} pipe 1 config bw 14Mbit/s I've tried multiple tweaks to the pipe rule and I seem to be missing something. I only get about half the bandwidth I specify. Is this normal behavior? Is there something wrong

use of setsockopt(SO_LINGER)
I would like to remove setsockopt(SO_LINGER), as there does not seem to be a reason for its use. If you know of specific reasons we should keep any of these let me know, or run this patch in local test trees where possible. This is against OpenBSD, but should apply to portable with some fuzz. Routing and keying Questions
Hello! I use tincd to interconnect 3 LANs: A, B and C. So long, it works fine: everybody reaches everybody. But I want a different behavior: A and B should be allowed to talk, as should B and C. I tried to simply delete the host-files on the nodes that should not be allowed to talk to eachother: A has a hostfile from B B has a hostfile from A and C C has a hostfile from B But this is no

weird network error
a previously rock solid reliable server of mine crashed last night, the server was still running but eth0, a Intel 82574L using the e1000e driver, went down. The server has a Supermicro X8DTE-F (dual Xeon X5650, yada yada). server is a drbd master, so that was the first thing to notice network issues. Just a couple days ago I ran yum update to the latest, I do this about once a month.
