Unable to join samba server to a NT4 style domain
Hello, I have installed Samba version 3.0.13 on a Solaris 9 machine and am trying to add it to an existing NT domain as a member server. I have followed the instructions in Chapter 2 of the Samba HOW-TO collection for adding a samba server as a Domain member. The problem is that when i use the net rpc join command to join the domain, I get the following error: # ./net rpc join -U

Does 3.0 work with w2k sp3 and/or win 2003? Anybody had success?
I can't make it work although both sign&seal and restrictanonymous are set to 0. My setup is: w2k sp2 as PDC, w2k sp3 as client, samba 3.0a21 joined into the PDC domain as an ADS member. The scenario is, from the w2k sp3 client, connect to a share hosted by samba, create a file, then use property->security->add tab to add an ACE, then the browsing user/group windows appears

Winbind + machine account + non-anonymous access (RestrictAnonymous)
Hi everybody, my (our) goal here is to setup a samba server in a NT domain (and eventually in a Win2k domain - but for now I just want to test it on NT) and have it act like a member server - meaning that I don't use the local user database but instead assing permissions of shares to domain users and groups. To avoid having to administer both users in the NT domain and on the samba

2.2.x Printing from Win2k-more clues
I've discovered a couple of things while troubleshooting my printer setup problems. 1. print$ must be 0744. I ran a level-3 debug, and was seeing "chmod failed" errors. Upping it to level-10, I saw something that pointed to unix rights of 0744; my dir's were set to 0755 or 0777...neither worked. When I set print$ and it's subdir's to 0744, the chmod errors went away.

Print jobs hang in Samba, don't go to UNIX spooler
I have encountered a strange printing problem with Samba 2.2.4 running under HP-UX 11i. In the process of investigating a printing problem, I have found that Samba has stopped passing jobs along to the UNIX lp spooler as of yesterday afternoon. When NT/W2K clients print to printers on my server, the jobs are accepted, Samba spool files are created in the spool directory defined for the printer

Winbind and Windows 2000
We are running a windows 2000 domain where I work. I am developing a linux client for desktop deployment so that we can stop the spread of cancer (read microsoft). I can get winbind to join the domain, but when i try a winfo -t, it tells me "could not check secret". I have scoured the internet looking for help and could not find anything. I used the HOW TO from John Trostel, with no

wbinfo -u returns 0xc0000022
Hello, I am attempting to add a Redhat 9 box to our NT4 domain as a member server. I want to enumerate user and group info so I don't have to make two sets of user and group accounts. I've setup samba (version 2.2.7a) and pamd the way I think I'm supposed to, but wbinfo -u always returns 0xc0000022. I've found this particular error mentioned in a few articles, but applying the

multiple subnet browsing problem
I having difficulty getting browsing to fully work across two subnets. The subnets (having private addresses - 192.168.x.0) are connected by Linux boxes (RH6.1, one for each subnet) functioning as firewall, IP masquerade and router. On one subnet (call this one LEFT), there is an NT4.0 server as the PDC (also running WINS and DHCP) along with 50 or so clients and other servers (NT, Win9x) in

XP clients cannot find Samba
Hello, I've set up Samba 3.0.22 on an Ubuntu box for testing purposes. Below is my smb.conf file. The Samba server, ubuntu, is on the other side of a Linksys WRTP54G router, serving NAT to my Windows XP clients on the inside. I've opened port 139 on the router, set up NetBEUI, placed entries in the clients' hosts & lmhosts files. For some reason, the clients can logon to

Winbind on Solaris 2.6
It would appear that communication with the PDC is fine - all other commands (-t, -m, -s SID, -n name, etc.) work OK, it's just the group/user enumeration calls that appear to fail. Has anybody got any ideas whatsoever - I think it has to be a problem on the NT PDC side as, according to the debug log at level 10: 000018 samr_io_r_query_dispinfo 0018 total_size : 00000000 001c
