wine-20050211 on SuSE 9.2
I am trying to install wine-20050211 on my second system, which runs
SuSE 9.2. After much faffing around I finally managed to download and
install bison, which allowed ./config to complete. A warning at the end
advised me to install xlib-devel or xfree86-devel. Googling around I
found the RPM for XFree86-devel for SuSE 9.1 so I downloaded it and
started to install it. Unfortunately, a

change in winbindd behavior
I have a Samba 3.0.15pre1 box running winbind to a Windows 2003 AD
Domain, see the smb.conf file below.
If I run 'wbinfo -u' it returns all the expected user and computer
accounts, in lower case.
I just compiled and installed 3.0.20 and now 'wbinfo -u' is returning
mixed-case results.
I am guessing that the mixed-case results are exactly what the AD
servers are returning to

ACL / default permissions question
Samba 3.0.11, 3.0.14a, 3.0.15pre1 on Red Hat RHAS3
Samba server is an NT4 PDC (no ADS)
passdb backend = ldapsam
I could try it out for myself, since I've a test machine besides my
regular site. But I'd really rather have a definitive answer.
I have POSIX ACLs working fine.
In smb.conf I set "nt acl support = yes" (default anyway).
Let's presume that I go and put all

winbind: 3.0.14 to 2.2.7? NT_STATUS_NOT_SUPPORTED...
does winbind on a samba 3.0.14 domain member server work against a samba
2.2.7 pdc ? this is the first time i've set up winbind, so i don't know
if there's a version issue or just a generic config issue.
after setting winbind up (including adding to the domain), i attempt to
access the domain member server from a win2k client, which fails with

RHEL 4 rpm for Samba 3.0.14 ?
Hi,
Does anyone know of a binary rpm for Samba 3.0.14 that wonrk RHEL 4 ?
The binary RedHat rpm on samba.org have been compiled for RedHat 9, and
it does'nt install on RHEL. I would recompile the .src.rpm, but if
anybody know of a repository that carry a binary, I would be glad to
hear about it.
Thanks !

Upgrade to 3.0.14 breaks NT4 client login
Our office is a mix of XP and NT4 clients.
I've been running Fedora Core 3 for some time with
samba-3.0.10-1.fc3.i386.rpm with no problems.
When I upgraded to Fedora Core 4 with samba-3.0.14a-2.i386.rpm NT4 clients
can no longer authenticate.

Problems when upgrading to samba 3.0.14
Hi all,
We had a Debian sarge box with samba version 3.0.7 and worked ok.
When we upgraded to the new stable version in Debian (3.0.14a)
we noticed that the samba daemon (smbd) did'nt bind to its port
(139) when running in daemon mode. When running with inetd, it
binds de port but don't "pass" the connection to the samba demon...
There is any big change
