Migration: server with smb 2.2 -> new server, 2.2 too, weird issues
Hello all at the samba list. The other day there was a migration of server; the old one had Samba 2.2 (.6) working normally. Every user logged in the domain without problems, their SIDs and the domain SID were right, everything was ideal. But a server update was needed, and a new server was installed, also with Samba 2.2 (.12). The difference in version is not important this time as other

Windows 10 temporary profile error, when domain remote profile directory exists and is empty
You should check that if a user is logged and you look at the local (c:\users) folder Does it have a TEMP folder in it. If thats the case. I suggest you try this. Click Start ?? Run ?? Regedit Navigate to the following registry key :HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList Then find the GUID from the user that is having problem. (tip, properties, security tab )

Samba and Vista profile probs
Yes, if you're using roaming profiles Vista will automatically accept your login (if your PDC is configured correctly, check the firewall on the clients and server also, write/read access to the profile for the current user, but i guess these things were already said here but I'm only replying to your last question without having read most of the rest) The profile is not needed to be

BLOATED LDAP Traffic from Samba
Hello All, I am having an issue with a samba 3.0.21a with LDAP backened installation. My Samba PDC is sending tons of traffic my ldapserver(iplanet) and is causing the ldap server load to peak consitently over a ridiculous 91%. Logons come to a crawl because the ldap load is so high. I don't not have roaming profiles enabled. Here is an excerpt from a logfile (log level=2):

Short Title Bar
It used to be that streamed titles could exceed thirty characters. Ever since I upgraded to I believe it was version 2.4.0, no matter what I send, there's a truncation of the artist-plus-title combined sting. At first, I thought it was an ices-cc problem, but it isn't, because when live programs connect to the input port, the title bar still cuts off at thirty characters. I've

restoring roaming profiles
I'm running Version 4.1.17-Debian as a DC on a Debian/Jessie AMD64 system. After rebuilding a domain with slightly different settings, roaming profiles stopped working. https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Implementing_roaming_profiles contains a suggestion (see Troubleshooting roaming profiles) that gets them working again - deleting the user subkey from

Scheduling same worker/method at different times with different args
I need to run the same worker''s method twice per day with different arguments. Unfortunately, only the second entry in the schedule is firing. I created an experimental worker to verify this: Worker: class ExperimentWorker < BackgrounDRb::MetaWorker set_worker_name :experiment_worker def create(args = nil) # this method is called, when worker is loaded for the first time

Security through obscurity it may be, but it isn't pointless. Tarpits are in a similar class; they don't help with security in the absolute sense, but they slow the attacker down, and that might

Thanks to Drew Vonada-Smith the roaming profiles are working again. The problem was that information stored in

I suppose the questions are, why did you rebuild the domain, what settings did you change and did

[NOT SUBJECT] need information about Profiles for multiple users
Ok here is my problem : I have several computers and hundred users who use them. I configured a Linux Samba server so each user has his own profile (USER.DAT and such things) on server... for Windows 95 to take profile on server I had to use Policies, to have a registry key in : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProfileList for EACH USER , telling where to get profile.

Roaming profile problem BDC
Hi all, I have a problem with my PDC - BDC LDAP setup with roaming profiles. Both are in the same network. Both servers get the user homes and profiles from a NAS so they are always up to date. I configured to get the profiles and the homes from the logon server like logon path = \\%L\profiles\%U logon home = \\%L\%U The home directories work as expected. %L is translated to the logon

Fwd: Vista laptop in Samba 3.3.4 domain suddenly trying to use roaming profiles?
Paul, Thank you very much for your information. I, too, had noticed that the ProfilePath and CentralPath values could be altered to point to the proper local path, and that technique at least fixed the immediate problem. Unfortunately, further review of my setup has revealed a very frustrating migration issue that I had not yet realized. The issue is very subtle and very frustrating, but I believe

I found this with LLVM 2.3 and reproduced with svn as of about thirty minutes ago and they both fail in the same way. If you run this code through opt -instcombine define fastcc i64 @fibo(i64) { switch i64 %0, label %2 [ i64 0, label %8 i64 1, label %8 ] ; <label>:2 ; preds = %1 %3 = sub i64 %0, 1 ; <i64> [#uses=1] %4 = call i64 @fibo(i64 %3) ; <i64> [#uses=1] %5 =

Wine Unbearably Slow
After using Wine without any significant hitches for over a year, I've just come across one. Every time I load any application (even winecfg), it takes between thirty seconds to one minute for it to load. During this time, normal functions take forever or don't work at all (selecting folders, opening a file, etc.). Sometimes it will load and work just fine, but often the program continues
