idmap_rid problem - winbindd_sid_to_uid: Could not get uid for sid
In a ADS(Adv Serv 2003) setup with a few linux members, I'd like to achieve consistent UIDs for domain users across these linux machines, and idmap_rid seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. However, I cannot get winbind to create uids or gids from SIDs at all. Any hints? --Erik S. Johansen ares samba # smbd -V Version 3.0.10 ares samba # pwd /var/cache/samba ares samba # rm *.tdb

CentOS 3.5 samba3-3.0.20a-24 Security ADS I can't get windows group permissions on shares to work except for 'domain users'. The windows group I am trying to use is Unix.Samba. Somehow, in a random situation, once user logged onto the workstations, they were prompted with the winlogon.exe Fatal error + blue screen to death then self-reboot. When I checked out the log from windows, it said there's problem on msgina.dll from WinXP SP2. However, another user can successfully logon to the same workstation

Hi All, I'm trying to migrate from an NT4 domain to samba-3... sorry this is so long... when I run the "net rpc vampire" I get errors for users and machines in uppercase or contain uppercase chars. idmap_ad and multiple domians
Has anyone else gotten samba functioning with idmap_ad and multiple domains? In our environment we have a domain with two child domains. There is one child domain for students, and another for faculty staff. Our servers are joined to the student domain, but need to be able to enumerate users in the staff domain. When attempting to lookup a user (wbinfo -i 'NAU\car3') that only exists

Winbind - DUAL_SID2UID empty domain?
I am having a strange problem that I thought someone might be help resolve. I am using Samba 3.4.7 at the moment, but I've had the same issue with Samba 3.4.6 and Samba 3.5.2. NOTE: Domain, hostnames, usernames and SIDs have been changed to protect the guilty. I am seeing an unable to successfully execute a variety of lookups from wbinfo and I think this is the underlying cause of some

Seamless update from Samba 2 to Samba 3 on a new server
Hi, I'm new to the list, I hope i'm posting at the right place ;) I'm having a hard time trying to update and to move my Samba 2.2 PDC to a new Debian server. Currently, the PDC is using Samba 2.2.8 on a Solaris Server. My goal is to move it to another computer, and to update it to a newer version (3.0.24) This must be fully transparent for the users, since I have no time to

Winbind crashes in 3.026a using rid
Winbind 3.026a crashes when reading out user information with wbinfo using the idmap/rid module. The tdb module works without crash (tested by exchanging the uncommented and commented lines in the following fragment from smb.conf). I configured rid as follows: [global] # idmap uid=1000-60000 # idmap gid=1000-60000 idmap domains=TRUSTEDDOMAINS idmap config TRUSTEDDOMAINS:readonly=yes idmap

idmap_sid_to_uid is not get called?
Hi I have the following question: Joining Win200x as ADS/DOMAIN, I see no problems for windows users to get authenticated even if they don't have local accounts. However, with the same samba (3.06) joining NT4 SP6 domain I see that only users that also have entry in /etc/passwd are been authenticated. I followed winbindd traces and saw that there is no problem communicating with
