portupgrade issue
I am running 4.8-STABLE.
I recently did a cvsup (repeatedly, most recently today). Ever since,
portupgrade dies with the following messages:

Incomplete backups with tar option of smbclient.
We use the tar option of smbclient (Samba 1.9.16p9, SunOS 4.1.3) to
backup Windows 95 PCs:
smbclient "\\${server}\backup" -U COMPUTING -d 1 -D "\" -Tc tarfile >! logfile
backup is set as a share of c:\
The backups are incomplete (as shown by the logfile and gzip -tf tarfile).
Typically, only very roughly 5700 of 6600 files get copied.

Smbclient - protocol negotiation failed
Hi
I just built samba 3.0.11 RPM's from the SRPM provided on samba.org. I'm
using Fedora 1, 2.4 kernel.
smbclient is causing me an unusual problem. When I start smbd and nmbd
and issue: smbclient -d3 -L localhost, I see the following:
smbclient -d3 -L localhost

Dear all,
Sorry for the previous incomplete message. I am still having trouble with my
samba installation. I have made the check suggested on wiki.samba.org and
got the following results:

smbclient //localhost/netlogon -UAdministrator -c 'ls'

the difference between.. smbclient -L on the servers
Hai,
?
Just a small question, when i run on the samba4 servers.
the command :? smbclient -L `hostname`??
whats the diffence between the servers and the output?
For example, why dont i see anything at server DC1 ( server and workgroup ) but i see that on the member server.
?
The networks had 2 DC's? ( DC1 DC2 and 2 member servers )
All in the same "Workgroup" ( as samba smb.conf

smbclient ignores configured kerberos ccache when using krb5-user on ubuntu/debian
I believe you are hitting multiple things.
1. a bug in smblcient involving that kerberos cache. I seen something passing by on this.
2. krb5.conf has to much in it, just not needed.
3. faulty smb.conf. Its incomplete.
But more comment below.

Whats wrong in this smbclient picture
Running smbclient 2.2.0-alpha2
on Redhat Linux 7.0
I don't have a fully installed samba suite with full setup and really
only use smbclient occasionally like an ftp client. I'm able to
access a win2k and win98 box that way from my linux workstation.
Able to access but not transfer anything to the win98.
Although I can transfer files from/to the win2k box.
I have no passwords set on

smbclient & printing on win2k box with HP Deskjet 560C (Drivers?) SMB 2.2.3a - Kernel 2.4.7, red hat 7.2
Hi LUs,
I dont have much time at the moment to read tons of documentation. So, I
would like to ask a hopefully easy to answer question.
Samba is running alright with me, smbclient works fine, but I would like to
print from my Linux box over LAN to a printer (HP 560C) connected to a win2k
box. Because I can't afford a better or second printer & I also havent got
enough room for it

I just noticed that smbclient from Samba 4.9.4 /built by myself) on FreeBSD 11.2 coredumps when called like this:

Problem with smbclient & RedHat EL 3 ES
Hi,
Last week I activate some script that use smbclient on my test server
(RedHat EL 3).
But when this script run, the kernel make a panic and display a Out of
Memory (OOM).
The first time, the process was killed is nscd, after I upgraded to kernel
2.6.11 and friday to 3.0.14a (before I use 3.0.13).
Now, it's the smbclient process which is killed by kernel.
I don't know if it's a

sending messages via smbclient fails beginning with version 3.0.1 2
hi all,
i'm sending some messages via "smbclient -M <user>" from my
solaris-system to my windows-pc and this fails now since i installed
3.0.12 (it also does with 3.0.13).
comparing the debug-output of 3.0.11 and 3.0.12 shows that it now tries
to open a connection to port 445 instead of 139!
why has this changed?
thanks a lot,
christian

smbclient for SCO OpenServer 5.0.7
