winbindd crashing/stopping
I am running RH8 with the Samba-alpha3.23 from the RPMs. I was able to use Kerberos to add machine to a Windows AD domain without any problem and was able to get winbind to function properly. I was able to get group & user listing using wbinfo -g & -u, -t responds with proper information. I have run getent for passwords & groups. Since what appeared to be a successful getent, my

3.0.0, winbind issues
I just upgraded our system here to 3.0.0 from RC4 last night. As usual I built an RPM from the source RPM after adding --with-acl-support to the specfile. I found that unlike previous RCs, RPM would not upgrade to 3.0.0 using -Fvh. In the end I removed RC4 and then installed 3.0.0 in the normal way (backing up and restoring /etc/samba and /var/cache/samba). However, the real issue is that

File sharing is ok, but new ADS user validation is not ok
We have Samba 3.2.4 on two SLES 10 (one is SP1, the other SP2 64bit) machines. Both are member servers in our ADS, which was over the past month given some additional DCs, new IPs for all DCs, and upgraded to Windows 2008 (from win2003). The krb5.conf and nsswitch.conf files on the two machines are identical; the smb.conf files are *nearly* identical in their common section; the filewall rules

winbindd using FQDN domain name now?
As of RC3 and RC4, I've noticed that winbindd's wb_getpwuid function is using the form <FQDN-domain><winbind-seperator><username>, and before, it was simply <NetBIOS-domain><winbind-seperator><username>. The net effect of what I'm seeing is that users which have a UNIX account locally on the samba box and also a domain account are being

Samba 3.0 beta 3 issues
Hi there, I'm using Samba 3.0 beta 3 on RH 9 (connecting to a Windows 2000 domain, as a member server) and I'm having trouble keeping samba running reliably. At random times it seems to stop recognising names from the domain. Restarting winbind fixes the problem, but then it occurs randomly again, usually once or twice a day. At least once it has fixed itself after being broken overnight

Samba3.0.1pre1 winbind failing against domain groups(ADS)
Winbindd is having trouble finding the Domain Admins group in my domain. It appears to be searching for the group but does not show what domain it's looking into - then it tries the local PC (ANC-Gentoo): log.winbind: [2004/01/07 13:20:43, 3] nsswitch/winbindd_group.c:winbindd_getgrnam(237) [23792]: getgrnam Domain Admins [2004/01/07 13:20:43, 5] nsswitch/winbindd_acct.c:wb_getgrnam(522)

"getent group" shows AD groups; "getent passwd" only shows local users
I had winbind configured so that it could fetch users from AD. Everything was working properly, but something happened in the past couple of days (no change in the Samba config) I'm not able to diagnose. "getent group" enumerates groups, "getent passwd" doesn't. "wbinfo -g" returns groups, whereas I get this error when trying to get users: # wbinfo -u

Domain member seems to work, wbinfo -u not
Hello everyone,   any ideas on why a newly installed domain member (w2k8 domain) might seem to work fine in every test (wbinfo -g, wbinfo -t, getent group, wbinfo -n username, getent passwd user, share-access.., ) but only enumeration of users with wbinfo -u and getent passwd fail? wbinfo -u just returns without any output and getent passwd just shows the default centos7 users.   Even with

winbind's libads/ldap_utils.c repeatedly says 'failed to reconnect (Timed out)'
I'm repeatedly needing to restart winbind v3.0.22 on ubuntu server v6.10. The reason why is that it fails to get group info. The passwd info is still accessible; it just can't figure out what groups a person is in. I'm using idmap backend = ad , and winbind nss info = sfu. Looking in /var/log/samba/log.wb-ADDOMAINNAME, I see many lines at seemingly randomly time intervals that read

Winbindd chokes on W2K users in only one group
Hi there, I've been trying to set up Samba 3.0.14a with Active Directory integration on a network with an ordinary W2k Server PDC. I'm currently having a problem which I'm convinced has nothing to do with my Windows or Samba configuration. The problem only occurs when trying to connect to the Samba server from an authenticated domain account which is only a member of the default

winbind crash
Hi all, I am having a problem with winbind crashing on our profile server. It is running samba 3.0 alpha 23 on Red Hat 8.0. Here is an excerpt from the winbind log when it crashed: [2003/05/12 14:08:24, 3] libads/ldap.c:ads_connect(267) Connected to LDAP server 192.168.55.6 [2003/05/12 14:08:24, 3] libads/ldap.c:ads_server_info(1917) got ldap server name fozzy@CJNTECH, using bind path:

Panic action ignored by winbind during crash
Hi there, I am trying to debug a problem with winbind crashing, but the "panic action" I have set in smb.conf doesn't seem to be working. First, the message I get in the log.winbindd file is as follows: ------ snip ------ [2003/05/27 17:05:01, 1] libads/ldap_utils.c:ads_do_search_retry(76) ads reopen failed after error Success winbindd: ../../../libraries/libldap/getvalues.c:36:

Winbind issue
All, After upgrading to samba 3.0.30 on gentoo amd64 because of my recent best friend CVE-2008-1105 My winbind daemon is 'hanging up', and refusing to respond to pings after a few minutes of activity. Wbinfo -u, getent passwd all work successfully, then after a bit wbinfo -p just tells me winbind dies. I have 3.0.30/winbind on another machine, also amd64 that is working.... So

net ads join fails on W2K3 server with latest MS patches
Hi All, For the past few months I've been running a SUSE 9.2 server here (mostly as an app server) which was a member of an AD domain (w2k3 domain controller.) I used winbind to enable domain members to log into the box, all was well. This week the w2k3 server had some MS security patches applied and suddenly logins became impossible, because winbind was unable to retrieve user info from the

Samba 3/ADC/Winbind problem
Greetings all. I am banging my head about this one, I will try to be as specific as possible, bear with me please. I have a W2KDC ADC, and trying to join a Samba 3 linux workstation to it. What works: net join: succeeded wbinfo -t: checking the trust secret via RPC calls succeeded wbinfo -m: return to prompt, no output wbinfo -u: correct list of local + AD members
