[PATCH 3/3] v2v: windows: Use '*.inf' files to control how Windows drivers are installed.
Instead of trying to split and parse elements from virtio-win paths,
use the '*.inf' files supplied with the drivers to control how Windows
drivers are installed.
The following emails best explain how this works:

Windows 7 and file ownership
Please forgive the cross-post; I'm not sure where this issue lies.
Samba 3.5.1, CentOS 5.5 x86_64 PDC with Win2K, WinXP, Win2003 and Win7
32-bit domain members, tdbsam backend. Cygwin 1.7.7. All basic
functionality seems to be fine, except...
On Win2K, WinXP and Win2003, a "DIR /Q" on a mapped share always displays
the owner as "BUILTIN\Administrators", but a

Fwd: Dynamic DNS Updates not working. samba_dnsupdate : RuntimeError: (sambalist: to exclusive) kinit for [DC@Realm] failed (Cannot contact any KDC for requested realm)
Good morning!
First of all thanks Rowland for the fast answer yesterday! I realized that
samba-technical might have been the wrong mailing list and switched it to
the normal samba users list (hopefully it worked, as it does get a bit
confusing with spamgourmets addresses!). Unfortunately the problem with
samba_dnsupdate remains after the changes.
I did changed the smb.conf, krb5.conf, and hosts

Thank you for the answers Peter and Rowland and sorry to everybody for the
spam...switched to another e-mail address and hope my messages will arrive
only once from now on.
As I wrote in my first mail, Kerberos does work. I can successfully request
and list a ticket on the AC DC.

Local accounts and AD
So has anyone been able to do this?
I have a Samba member server joined to AD on Win2003 server. I have
winXP workstations and one can login with their AD credentials but I
also want to allow users with local accounts on the Samba machine to be
able to login with winXP.
Is it possible?
If so I haven't been able to make it work and would appreciate some
pointers.

Locking for Linux/WinXP clients (-or- CIFS issues)
Hi...
I've been running samba 3.0 for quite some time now (Debian's stable
version, currently 3.0.14) and I've had no problems. That's probably
been because all my clients were Windows XP boxes. I've now moved
several users to Linux (Ubuntu Breezy) as their desktop and I've noticed
there seems to be a problem in accessing files across the platforms.
If a Linux box

Trust relationship fails after classicupgrade
Thanks Louis, it seems the DNS updates were working even with the
nsswitch.conf I had, but only for machines that I manually joined to the
new AD Domain.
I checked the ones I didn't join manually and they aren't proper members of
the domain anymore. If I try to logon with anything but the last (cached)
user account on a Win7 machine I get: "The trust relationship between this

Samba3 PDC + WinXP --> profile not found
Hi!
Sorry for asking that, because I think this error is very frequent, but
I can't solve it. I searched over the Google and mostly the samba
mailing list archives, but I couldn't find anything useful about it.
Here is the situation: We are using A Samba3 server with LDAP
password backend, configured as WINS and PDC server. We're also using
roaming profiles. And here is the

Trust relationship fails after classicupgrade
Hey Louis,
thanks for the answer! That sounds like a viable route to go. Of course I'd
prefer doing the classicupgrade and having the trust relationship still
intact. It did work this way at some point during testing, that's why I
find it hard to accept that I have to circumvent the problem like this.
Did somebody else lose trust relationships after classicupgrade and found a

Problems using multiple Samba servers in a Win2003 AD domain
I've been at this for days, and making no headway. It's very
discouraging. I have a Win2003 domain, that has the Services for Unix
extensions installed. I am trying to have multiple Samba servers as
domain members. (in my case, one desktop sharing files, and one laptop,
accessing the shares). And at the moment, it doesn't (fully) work.
Each Samba server can see shares from the other.

Problems with folder permissions
Hi,
1) Creating a Folder on a my samba share works in general via WinXP,
but setting the permission doesn't.
On the new Folder <right click>+<properties>+<security tab> doesn't
show any selected check boxes. After selecting a check box + <Apply>
doesn't "save" it. I have to do this a 2nd time and then it work.
2) Can't select the permissions

Problem With Groups in Samba 3.0.23 ?
Hi all,
I just upgraded a test copy of my samba server from version 3.0.10E to
the latest, 3.0.23D - the RPM available for Red Hat AS4 on the samba.org
site. There was no samba-common, just samba, samba-client and
samba-winbind RPMs. I installed all three successfully. I backed up my
configs before hand and replaces / adapted them afterwards. I

user account cannot be found error.
Now I know this isnt the case since I can browse the samba server with
this account. Note: it is in tdbsam not ldap
