Convert Debian 6 from HVM to PV
I have a couple Debian 6 HVM VMs. From what I''ve read, Debian 6''s
standard kernels have pv_ops already enabled. I''d like to convert these
to pv for the following reasons (Assuming both of are valid expectations):
1) so the VMs use pv for the NICs
2) so the VMs properly respond to shutdown/reboot commands from xm
I''m having trouble converting them. I believe

how to debug random domU reboot
Hi,
I just noticed one of my XEN domU''s rebooting by itself. No one was
logged in and it wasn''t under load, but just rebooted. It rebooted
again about an hour or 2 later
Is there any way to see why to see what caused this, either from domU, or dom0 ?
/var/log/messages has no indicative reason, but here it is:

Simple File I/O benchmark tool for NT clients
Hi,
I need a simple tool for benchmarking my NT client against my Ubuntu Samba server.
I get 20MB/s during a file copy but I think my limit is the client's hard disk.
Dose anyone know a simple exe tool which simulate file I/O agains the Samba server.
I like to avoid using my lokal disk during the test.
Have looked around but can't find a simpe tool which dose the job without the

Another dovecot-antispam plugin can't call dspam
Hi folks -
I am configuring a new system and the antispam plugin is the last piece
I need, everything else is working. Thanks to Johannes for this plugin,
it's exactly what I want and an elegant solution for filter training.
But I've been trying everything I can think of for the last 3 days to
get this to work, no success.
I've got: Postfix 2.5.3, dspam 3.8.0, Dovecot 1.1.6,

- I configure /etc/samba/smb.conf:
# Global parameters

        workgroup = TOTO
        netbios name = VENUS

Samba winbindd: "Invalid request size received" problem
Hi experts - I hope you can help me.
I am trying to resolve Windows host names (aka Netbios names, aka "UNC names) from a Linux box.
I have added "dns wins" to the "hosts" line at the nsswitch configuration file: /etc/nsswitch.conf, and installed samba 3.2.2 and ran winbindd -D".

Samba (+ NAV?) and bad printer names?
At 4:00 every morning the 2 WinXP machines on my network generate a slew
of queries to bad printer names. These names are variations on the name
of a valid printer exported by Samba.
Samba v3.0.10 is running on a RHEL4 system. It exports several shared
drives and a single printer. The printer is named "lj4500", is managed by
CUPS v1.1.22, and works correctly via Samba from both

Fwd: Deleting a Subvol from a Cancelled Btrfs-Send
I'm experimenting with btrfs-send. Previously (2014-09-26), I did my
first btrfs-send on a subvol, and that worked fine. Today, I tried to
send a new snapshot. Unfortunately, I realized part way through that I
forgot to specify the parent to only send a delta, and killed the send
with ^C.
On the destination, I'm left with:
~$ sudo btrfs subvol list /var/media/backups/venus/home/

CUPS postscript driver - setting up **ERRATA**
Hi All,
Following instructions from here:
http://samba.mirror.ac.uk/samba/docs/man/CUPS-printing.html#id2942237
and also in the "Official Samba Howto" book, I tried to install the CUPS PS
driver using cupsaddsmb.
It failed due to various reasons, and then I finally got it to work.
When I unpacked the latest tar.gz file (cups-samba-5.0rc3.tar.gz) it doesn't
unpack the files as:

On the main server, I see this in /var/log/messages:
