REPOST: Simultaneous Share Access via NFS/SMB
Did not get a response so I am reposting. I have a share that has been exported via NFS as well as shared using Samba 3.0. On the Windows side, all authentication is currently done using Winbind and Active Directory. On the standalone Samba server (also authenticated using Windbind) where the exported NFS resides, I have the same local Unix user (identified by the same name and UID/GID) that

applying policies to the Group Policy Creator Owner
Hi: When I add a user xUser to the Group Policy Creator Owner, xUser should be able to create a new GPO , right? However when I run: samba-tool gpo create new_gpo -U xUser , it throw an exception about insufficient ldap permissions. Then when I access via smb to the folder: domain/sysvol/Policies and the user xUser has permissions for creating folders, I mean, it has no ldap permissions. Any

stand alone winbind deamon services via apis
Hello, When I mount a cifs share from Windows server onto a linux client, all I am interested in is sid to uid and gid and vice versa mapping. Can I accomplish that using just windbind and not samba server and nmbd i.e. have a windbind.conf file with the pertinent stanza! Say I just give the Windows share server name/ip address and sid to winbind deamon via one of its existing APIs, can it

Samba-3.0 groupmapping problem
Hi, I'm newbie with Samba. I'm using Samba-3.0 directly installed with Fedora core. I've made a PDC linux server with Samba-3.0, openldap-2.1.22 with pam_ldap everything seems to be good but not with net groupmap. when using command: "net groupmap list" I have the following error : [2003/12/15 17:52:15, 0] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldapsam_setsamgrent(2048) ldapsam_setsamgrent:

I need a CIFS server to provide access to Linux files to Windows clients. I am able to accomplish this on SLES12 SP5, running kernel-4.12.14, with samba 4.10.5 using the following smb.conf [global] dedicated keytab file = /etc/samba/samba.keytab domain master = No kerberos method = dedicated keytab load printers = No local master = No ntlm auth =

Windbind requirements and settings
I posted this to comp.protocols.smb, but I'll give it a shot here too... Background : We have an existing Win2k domain, 2 Win2k domain controllers, all working just fine. I've been using Samba 2.2.x for quite a while to provide access to specific folders on *nix machines using Domain security...So I'm reasonably familiar with how file/print sharing works. But what I'm

simultaneous scripts not running via sieve_before
Hi again everyone, So I've finally got sieve integration happening on my? REHL Postfix/Dovecot server, with private user scripts happily running when users create them. (we user SquirrelMail, so the avelsieve plugin runs the sieve integration). Now I'd like to utilise additional per-user scripts (probably via sieve_before), but I've not been able to get my additional scripts to

little help with my config please (repost with smb.conf)
Hola: This is a repost with the smb.conf inline. Hola: I have configured samba-3.0.14a-2 on FC4 as a member of a Windows SBS2003 network. I used windbind to get the users from the SBS server. Users can login into the samba machine and use home directories I created for them in the samba machine (I cannot get to use/mount the user's home directories from the SBS machine into the

Windbind auth
Hi, I was able to get my server in the domain. I can see it from ADUC and Network Places. But I can't get it to use AD to authenticate the users that want to access the server/share. Wbinfo -u and -g return the users and group of my MONTREAL domain. Net ads info also returns the correct information about my domain. I then tried to run getent passwd but that only returned the list of the

rsync operation dies
List- I have an rsync operation that is inexplicably dying during the file list build on the source host (Windows 200 Server). The data set that I am rsyncing lives on what I am almost sure is a degraded raid array. During the file list build sequence, it will pause, the file list count frozen (not incrementing), and eventually die. Is there an option that I can use during the rsync process that

Again on NT ACLs and Samba re-share of NFS or SMB mount
Hi all, I spent the past days reading the mailing list archive, but still I have some questions to ask. Moreover, a detailed report of what I attempted can be useful for others. Goal: having a remote SMB or NFS share, mount it locally and re-share it using SAMBA. The remote SMB/NFS share will _not_ be directly used by users; it will be used only through the local samba "proxy". NT

How to mount NT share & maintain NT share permission via SMB for LTSP user??
When a regular user (say, "jmc") logs onto my Linux (LTSP, Samba, DHCP) server via his LTSP terminal I need an NT drive share to be mounted with the permissions that NT intends. Our NT file print server has a directory named "private" which contains subdirectories for each user. Each user has NT read/write permissions to his/her private subdir and no others. I need for each
