smb.conf for PDC
Hello,
I am configuring samba the first time as PDC so that a user can login on different pcs with the same password. To do this, I have configured smb.conf as follows. I'd appreciate, if someone could see, if the file is complete to run samba as a PDC.

domain users' permissions
Hello Samba users...
I am new to the samba list, so if this question has
been solved before, I apologize, & would someone be
kind enough to direct me to the location of an answer?
I am using Samba 2.2.5 on RedHat 7.3. I have it setup
as PDC on Win98 network. When a user logs into the
domain, authentication works fine and the login script
executes properly, however, everything else the user

group membership + acl
During the last two years our fileserver was a VERITAS Samba-2.0.10-VRTS server.
This Veritas version of samba contains a special ACL component for the
uid <-> sid and gid <-> sid mapping. It also transparently converts
Windows access rights to Unix access rights and vice versa.
The recent changes in the Windows mbx driver forced us to move to Samba3.
The uid mapping works without

WINBIND: only 88 group members ?
I'm trying to get the WINBIND 3.0.10 on a AIX5.2 machine working in our 1200 users
environment.
We have some groups with more than 100 users, these are not recognized by WINBIND.
The ldap server deliveres the needed entry, but it seems that the entry is too long for WINBIND.
I found that the maximum number of group members is 88.
How can I increase this maximum ?

Winbind in Samba 2.2.5 not automatically mapping the NT users with corresponding UNIX accounts
Have you tried in smb.conf
username map = /usr/local/samba/lib/domainuser.map
winbind use default domain = no
For every user you have to create an entry in the
/usr/local/samba/lib/domainuser.map, that looks like
<unixusername> = "<domainname>+<username>"
I?m using a script that generates the domainuser.map automaticly, because
our users are using NIS

More Samba Questions
I have never setup a Samba server, and the recent thread here prompted to
get on this I need to migrate two XP machines from using iSCSI to Samba.
I thought the "+" preceding a username in the smb.conf file for a
share definition told Samba to use the unix username? Unless I actually
use swat to create and enable the user and take off the + it doesn't work.
Any ideas what swat does

Definitive HowTo for CENTOS 5 Winbind - Samba - Active Directory Integration
Hi all,
I have been out of the linux / unix loop for a good three years now, and a

achieve the following:
Joining the centos machine to the AD domain (I believe I have done this

Is there a problem with Agile code in Web 2.0 chapter?
Hi, I''m running the code example for ''Dynamically Updating a List'' in
Agile pages 404-406:
When I enter a new to-do, and click ''New Item'', a new page is rendered
only displaying the new to-do just entered. This isn''t what''s expected.
The to-do list with id="items" should be updated so the to-do list
dynamically grows.

Audit handbook chapter review, call for general testing
Dear All,
Over the past week or so, I have spent some time updating Tom Rhodes'
excellent FreeBSD Handbook chapter on Audit for some of the more recent audit
changes, such as new features in more recent OpenBSM versions. Since FreeBSD
6.2-BETA2 contains what is likely the final drop of the audit code (modulo any
bug fixes) for 6.2-RELEASE, now would be a great time for people interested

Ruby For Rails Chapter 3
Just a heads up, Manning has released chapter 3 of
the Ruby for Rails book. I hadn''t saw it come across
the list yet so I thought I would say something. If
you haven''t got it yet, I''ll give it a recommendation. I''ve
found it very interesting thus far.

Blog of building Agile Web Development w/Rails Depot App using Ackbar/KirbyBase (Chapter 6-7)
Sorry for the long Subject line, but I couldn''t figure out what else to
call it. :-)
Just a quick announcement to tell you that I have worked through
Chapters 6 and 7 so far of "Agile Web Development with Rails", using
Ackbar/KirbyBase to develop the Depot app instead of MySQL. You can

Question about testing (chapter 12)
Hey,
i have created my website, and i saw in the book about testing and stuff,
started reading that, but a lot is over data, like the correct types and
validation.
In my website i have model validation and that works fine, i was wondering if
with that testing my site would benefit more?? I know you should test first
and then create the website, but i did that any way.
Thanks

Re: Not sure why this doesn't work - AWDRW chapter 8 page 96 tutorial
I finally got it to work. There wasn''t anything that got changed
besides clearing the session and restarting the server. There must
have been something that needed to be changed when the session was
first created??
All I know is that it is time to move on to the next page.
BTW it Dave is out there, hats off to you this is a very well written
book.
