I would like to create a Samba share supporting named writers, named readers, and no guests ...
I have not hit on the correct combination of parameters. Closest I come still allows the readers to modify - but not create - files. Not what I want. If someone can give me a hint, I would really appreciate it. Thank you. If I do this, reader1 can see the files (good), cannot create files (good), but can modify (write) existing files (bad!) ------- smb.conf ------- [native6-stuff] path =

Mapping Samba Server as a drive?
Hi, I was just wondering whether can we map a samba server as a drive? If can, it would be GREAT! This is because we can make users who log on to the server see different directories (like novell) and i thought it would be EXCELLENT if we can map the samba server as a drive itself. If we can, how can we achieve that? Thanks. adrian

bind failed on port 139 socket_addr=0.0.0.0 (Address already in use)
I can't figure out what is causing the error message of [1999/10/13 11:39:42, 0] lib/util_sock.c:open_socket_in(671) bind failed on port 139 socket_addr=0.0.0.0 (Address already in use) in my logs and thus preventing smbd from serving up connections. How can I track down what is causing this? Samba has been working great and now I must have done something but I don't know what. The

error message in smbd.log file: bind failed on port 139 socket_addr = 0.0.0.0.
I can run nmbd successfully, but smbd dies almost immediately when I run it, the smbd.log file has the message "bind failed on port 139 socket_addr = 0.0.0.0.". When I do a netstat -an | grep 139, it shows that tcp is listening on port 139. How do I resolve this conflict between tcp and smbd?

Before i start the server there is no connection (tested with lsof and fuser) on the 139 and 445 ports, smbd or nmbd aren't running. With the old version i never had this

importing minitab datasets
I'm having trouble using the read.mtp function in the foreign package to import datasets from minitab (.mtw) format. Specifically, each file I try to import fails to load any data beyond a header row stating the version of Minitab that saved the dataset. I get this error: incomplete final line found by readtableHeader on 'income.mtw' The dataset appears to be complete (ie, using

Does anyone know how to get clipboard and mouse integration in Centos vm?
Hi, I am running a Centos 7 vm under FreeBSD, and it works very well now, with KDE installed from DVD iso. But there's a couple of things missing, which happens only with Centos vm (Virtualbox): 1) Despite clipboard sharing enabled, copy-paste just does not work between host and guest 2) Mouse integration does not work. So I have to repeatedly capture mouse manually both in the host

How to make asterisk work with remote mysql database?
