LDAP: What has changed between 3.0.11 and 3.0.20
Hi, I recently upgraded our PDC to Samba 3.0.20 from 3.0.11. Unfortunately the user manager (usrmgr.exe) does not show all the users anymore. I cannot find the real culprit yet, but: Oct 28 19:18:08 [slapd] conn=2886 op=8 SRCH base="ou=people,dc=aub.nl,dc=aub,dc=nl" scope=2 deref=0 filter="(&(uid=*)(objectClass=sambaSamAccount))"_ Oct 28 19:18:08 [slapd] conn=2886 op=8

Problems with Excel & MS Word files (still)
Problem is apparently with locking issues, disabled oplocks in the [general] section, and the problem actually got worse... Here's what happens: User-A part of group1, opens Excel file off of share, saves, exits... User-B (or even User-A for that matter) tries to re-open same file, get error stating it's locked and can only open for read-only access... Both users in the same group, and

still ACL bug in 3.0.14a
Sparc Solaris / UFS file system. I have some ACL's set up for a handful of users and its all worked flawlessly with every incarnation of Samba I've used over the past couple years, which would be most. Last Friday evening I upgraded from 3.0.11 to 3.0.13 and some of the users I have some ACL's set up for promptly found Monday that they couldn't save new Excel files, they'd be

I have the following setup: Network 10.227.7.X is connected over a wlan (172.1.1.1 <-> 172.1.1.2) to network 128.1.1.X. This setup works, I have cross-subnet browsing going and I am able to login. When I enable IPSEC (raccoon (linux <-> freebsd)) I am still

Problems with MS Office (Excel/Word) & Samba 3.0.11, (moved to testing 3.0.12-RC1) attn Jerry
We are running with a little over 100GB of office data, and about 200GB misc other data shared to approximately 50 users using samba across two servers acting as PDC and BDC to Windows 2000 & XP Pro clients. Also using roaming profiles and ldap backend inclusive of nss_ldap and pam_ldap for the unix side - works well except for the more recent and horribly crippling MS Office bug. Tried

Re: Netbios over IPSec
Actually - as I stated - I have cross subnet browsing working (and thus wins). And I do have a samba box on both ends. The behaviour I noted happens irregularly: sometimes I can open a share on the other subnet, but mostly I cannot not. I'll still have a look at your suggestions though, it might help. File listing problems in 3.0.13
Over the weekend I upgraded my IRIX servers to 3.0.13 and have found many strange issues regarding the creation of new folders. When I attempt to add a new folder through the Windows side I get an immediate error dialog box stating "You may not be able to access file created in the folder X:\New Folder." When I select to continue the folder is created, looking on the IRIX side the

Solaris ACLs + Linux ACLS - Files Becoming Read Only
Samba 3.0.11 + acl (ext3) ------------------------- I have to second this, but actually we are seeing the same problem with Linux ACLS (ext3) and Office 97. Further investigation showed that although the acls seem to be inherited (eg the group has write access) the do not seem to be honoured with regard to the user. Let me give an example to clarify: 2 users: y,x belogn to group: mygroup

Samba 3.0.11 smbd hangs
Hi Guys, I have experienced an issue when the smbd stops responding, and after cannot kill the process, using SIGTERM or SIGKILL. A reboot cured the problem. I had the same problem once again a couple of days later. I realised that both times I had changed my smb.conf file directly, using vi, and shortly before the hang occured. The changes to the file were very minor, and the two were
