Samba, CUPS, or ?
I've been going over a problem and haven't been able to resolve it. I think I've narrowed the problem down to Samba, but I could use some advice on this. ? A few weeks ago I installed a print and fax server for a client. ?I used an old PII system with 64 MB RAM, SUSE Pro 9.1, configured to use Samba and HylaFAX. ?There are 8 client workstations running Window 98 SE (most of the

Re: [SLE] Samba, CUPS, or ?
I don't believe the problem is with CUPS itself as the printer does print locally from the command line and from scripts. If the CUPS daemon was going dead, printing wouldn't work at all. Since the issue is also that windows systems (which now include XP Pro and XP Home laptops I tested on the network) AREN'T SEEING THE PRINTER IN ANY NETWORK BROWSING COMPONENT -- NETWORK

print command
Hello! Situation: I have hylafax and Sambafax installed, and i want to send a error popup to the win clients if the fax fails, for that i have to run a file when somone is faxing/printing. If i put the print command in there, i can?t print anymore, if i comment it out, it works! Any Ideas why? update on hung rsyncs
Some new data on my rsync hangs: I run about 1500 rsync sessions over ssh daily. In the last 8 days that adds up to about 12k rsync sessions. Of those 12k sessions, 10 are right now sitting in a hung state. The rsync process on the destination has exited, but both rsync processes on the source are still running/waiting/hung. I use a timeout of 3600 (but this doesn't seem to work for this

Possibly problem with case of filenames ?
Hi, i'm having a little problem with samba (or Windows98 ?). The story : I'm using the program WHFC (Windows Hylafax Client) on a W2k and Win98-client. Samba 2.2.5 is running on Suse LINUX 7.1 Kernel 2.4.18. The WHFC-program uses a share on the LINUX-server (actually the share contains tif-images of received faxes). No problems with W2k, but with Win98. The WHFC-client shows the

Re: Samba Authentication
Hello, I just setup my machine to login to a Win2000 Domain. When I then go to browse network shares using Konqueror, I am still being asked for the username and password (which I used to login!). I am assuming this is an error in my smb.conf file (which is below). Thanks in advance! -Ed Waldmire ed@simplifiedcomputers.com # smb.conf is the main Samba configuration file. You find a full

printer shares: PDF queue
As you know, Samba up to and including 3.0.8 contains a share "pdf" which is meant to convert an incoming postscript job to PDF. At least in SUSE Linux as well as the Sernet RPMs this is broken because as documented "print command" is ignored if Samba is compiled against libcups and "printing=cups" (see smb.conf man page lines 4564 ff. in 3.0.8 and Chap. 18 of the

Samba shares lost from Windows/Mac after ~ 1 min
Hi, I have Samba 3.0.13 running on Suse 9.2 on an i586. I can browse and connect to the Samba shares on Windows XP and Mac OSX. However, about 1 min after connecting, the shares are lost and gone from the network environment - same for Windows XP and Mac OSX. The Windows shares mounted on the Linux machine work fine. Is this a know problem? Regards, Helge --- This is my smb.conf-file: #
