ActiveState Perl, cygwin and R (was: cygwin tar?)
Hello! I have just read mails in thread <http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/devel/04a/0583.html> about problems with Cygwin and Rtools. I had the same problems and kept just the newest cygwin1.dll and things seem OK now. However I currently hit the problem with Perl (I have ActiveState and Cygwin Perl installed). When I tried to work with 'Rdconv' in Cygwin I get the following: $

Samba update to 4.2.14 (SERNET) breaks LDAP access
Hello Alan, I had the same issue and I needed to add this line: ldap server require strong auth = no to smb.conf. Then, just restart/reload samba and it should work. Samba update to 4.2.14 (SERNET) breaks LDAP access
Last night we updated out Samba-4 AD server to version 4.2.14 usng the SERNEt packages, running on SLES 12. We have a number of services (mail services, MANTIS, etc) that access the server via the LDAP interface and in all cases we discovered that none of them where able to establish a successful LDAP connection after the upgrade.   Previously we used plain LDAP to access the server, i.e. we did

NetApp vfiler example scripts
Hi, For anyone who is interested; I created some basic scripts based on my current iSCSI block script. http://kinkrsoftware.nl/contrib/xen/block-netapp http://kinkrsoftware.nl/contrib/xen/netapp-lun.py Basically these two scripts allow you to start a vfiler with a qtree of customers. You log in the NetApp upon boot, and can use: netapp://customer1/disk1 It is work in progress... because I

iptables port forwarding
I have a simple requirement/test I'm trying to perform, but having difficulty. I have a system with 2 interfaces, BoxA: eth0? 172.26.50.102 eth1? 192.101.77.62 My goal is to have a tcp port built on BoxA such that hosts on the 192.101.77.0/24 network can reach a port on a different box on the 172.26.0.0/16 network. The target system is 172.26.10.120?? tcp/22 The port I wish to build is

Email dictionary attacks and firewall
I keep seeing 'Joe Average compromised computer on broadband' being used to do email dictionary attacks on our systems. Seems I always have several domains going through these. One in particular has been in the 'a-' list for weeks with about 20,000 attempts per day from various systems. Yeah, I do have a system which blocks email from these systems for a period of time after 3

LDAP and Domain
Hi to all, I'm configuring a samba server to act as Windows Domain Server through ldap, I've created the users for the domain, and seems to work fine when I'm not trying to log against the domain, (I tried with smbclient and mac os x). The problem is when I'm trying to add a windows machine to the domain, it ask me the login/password, I give one of "administrator"
