PDC - initial profile creation
I can now login to my domain from an XP Pro client, as a normal user. Only problem is, I get this: Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights. If this problem

Samba PDC
Does Samba3 require windows machine accounts? I need to have users authenticate to a Samba PDC and be able to run logon scripts when authenticated, BUT NOT have to have machine accounts for every user be setup. In other words, can the user authenticate without his/her machine being part of the Domain? Thanks, Rich

trouble with groupmap
Samba Version 3.0.9-1.3E.2 installed on Vanilla installation of CentOS Users who log in are unable to install printers via a script like they do in all of our other domains. The drivers have been installed properly an rpcclient enumdrivers confirms this. When the user logs in, they are assigned guest privileges, and I believe that this is what's preventing the print install. A quick tail

weird problem with "access denied" on share
Hi folks, I am having a weird problem that I just recently noticed on this particular server runnng Samba 3.0.10 on Fedora Core 3 and am hoping someone could shed some light on this. We're using tdb for our backend database. The user "nsu" is a member of unix group admin. The unix group admin is mapped to "Domain Adminstrators". This works OK, in that when logging in

Local GID conflicted with domain GID. Samba can't connect to shares
Hey All, RedHat 9.0 samba-3.0.10-1* * I was attempting to allow several domain users the ability to log into my domain controller with their logins. Because the server had no local group set up for the users, I created them with the groupadd utility. About 10 minutes later I got a call from my users telling me they couldn't access their network shares because the drives hadn't been

Samba 3.0.1pre3/ldap - Strange gid mappings server side
Good day, I'm running some tests with Samba 3.0.1pre3 with an LDAP sam. LDAP has been, to the best of my abilities, properly populated with the needed group mappings. The "net groupmap list" command indeed shows the following: [root@box bin]# ./net groupmap list Domain Admins (S-1-5-21-2009448231-1530593524-1969381020-512) -> domadm Domain Users

3.04 acl new user/group adding problem
Hi all I've written a few mails to the list hoping that I might get some hint to what mistake I've been making in configuring my samba server with acl support, but haven't been able to figure out much to date. I'm sending some parts of my log files with a description of my problem as a last hope-- I will have to go through the manuals from cover to cover if I dont get an

ldapsam - Failed to open group mapping database
Hi! I've been trying to install Samba 3.0.2a + ldapSam (Stand-Alone, not PDC) on a RedHat Enterprise Edition 3.0 as a fileserver. It works fine but I still get some errors about groups and I can't find the answers in the mailing list log: Let's explain the error: When I connect with a W2k client it works fine, but then if I try to add extra permissions to a file it complains
