net ads join error
Compiling version 3.0.20 from source on RedHat Fedora Core 4 everything
seems to go smoothly. However upon trying to join a 2000 domain with
the following command "net ads join -U Administrator%Password 'OU'" I
get the following error:

3.0.21c: idmap_rid segfaults on AIX 5.3 ML4
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to use idmap_rid on an AIX 5.3 ML4 machine. Samba compiled
successfully using the IBM compiler (vac.C) version 6. The only
programs I supplied where db and libiconv.
I followed the instructions, and put nsswitch/WINBIND in /usr/lib/security,
and edited /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg.
When I start "winbindd -i", it coredumps with a Signal 11:

Trying to get ADS authentication working.
I have been trying in vain to get ADS domain authentication working. I
can't figure out what is wrong and have read the docs and looked through
the mailing lists. I'm not sure why better documentation hasn't been
written on the web site for the ADS feature since it's pretty
spectacular to be able join a Samba server natively to an AD domain.
I have successfully joined the samba

how to make 'winbind nss info = sfu' work in v >= 3.0.26a
There is an instance of Ms.Active Directory that has had the 'Services
For Unix' applied.
I use winbind v3.0.24 to get user/group info from that Ms.Active directory
instance like so:
-------- begin smb.conf snippet: ------------
security = ADS
realm = mydomain.com
workgroup = MYDOMAIN
winbind enum groups = yes
winbind enum users = yes
winbind nested groups = yes
winbind nss info = sfu

Winbind without netbios
Hi there,
Im using for long time winbind + squid for my proxy server and it has
been working very good... No problems at all.
Some months ago, I decided to get rid of Netbios protocol and start to
use only dns for name resolution on my domain. That's when my problem
begin.
All my windows servers and workstations are doing fine without netbios
but I cant get winbind to work without

Winbind uselessly using up Idmap range in ldap
Hi,
We have just managed to get winbind behaving correctly in a Samba domain
with Samba member servers with help from Sernet. It is now not adding
spurious entries for the "own domain".
However, a member server keeps trying to add group mappings that already
exist in the LDAP idmap ou. This would not be a problem, apart from the
fact that every time it fails adding an entry, the

***SPAM*** Re: Configure Samba with non-standard OpenLDAPlocation
Try the configure format below:
LDFLAGS='-L/usr/local/openldap/lib'
CPPFLAGS='-I/usr/local/openldap/include' ./configure
--prefix=/usr/local/samba-3.0.12pre1 --with-ldap --with-ads
--with-winbind --with-krb5=/usr/local/krb5-1.3.5
--with-libiconv=/usr/local/libiconv-1.9.1
That's from my own compile. Change the LDFLAGS as applicable.

Does 3.0 work with w2k sp3 and/or win 2003? Anybody had success?
I can't make it work although both sign&seal and restrictanonymous are set to
0.
My setup is: w2k sp2 as PDC, w2k sp3 as client, samba 3.0a21 joined into the
PDC domain as an ADS member. The scenario is, from the w2k sp3 client,
connect to a share hosted by samba, create a file, then use
property->security->add tab to add an ACE, then the browsing user/group
windows appears

Trouble with idmap_ldap in 3.3.6
Hello everyone,
We've been running Samba for years, and with the exception of IDMAP,
we've been very happy. Well, now we have a real need to keep this
information in a shared DB, so I'm trying to set up the idmap_ldap plugin.
I *think* I have lookups working correctly-- at least, I can see that
Samba is contacting the LDAP directory. But since there's nothing
actually
