Acessing Test Outputs for Writing to a Table
Hi all,
I am trying to write a script that will compute Kendall's tau for a 75 time
series (using the Kendall package) and will then write the tau and p values
from the Kendall test to a text file table that can be read into Excel.
I am having no problem calculating Kendall's tau and the associated p value
for each time series, but I am having trouble figuring out how aggregate the

acessing hard drive continuously
My hard drive on a Dell Latitude keeps being accessed every 5 seconds for a
couple tenths of a second. Is there a way yo shut this off. I suspect it
might be related to journaling? Thanks in advance.

acessing LDAP via SSL
Hi there,
I have Samba 2.2.3a configured to access openLDAP 2.0.18 for
authentication. The autentication via ldap protocol works fine. Then I
tried to enable SSL to connect samba with the LDAP server. Calling
smbasswd generates this:
#/usr/local/samba/bin/smbpasswd atuttle -D9
New SMB password:
Retype new SMB password:
ldap_open_connection: connection opened
Bind failed: Can't contact LDAP

Acessing multiply servers with same IP''s
Good day,
My name is Mike and without further ado forgive me that I''ll go straight to
the point.
rtlsrc-2.4.29-2.diff this patch is obsoleted, but it would come in handy when
trying to solve the IP collisions in networks. I have situation around here
becouse I intend to connect through my wifi card to many gateways with same
IP adresses - 192.168.0.1 with /24 mask - then

[PATCH] Add macros for acessing lguest fields
The assumption that we have an overall irqs_pending flags,
and a one-to-one lguest <-> task mapping fails to hold on x86_64,
where we can have multiple puppies, aka vcpus.
Although ifdefs could be used, it makes the code much more
unreadable, and other ports are on the way, anyway. So some sort
of acessor is preferred anyway.

Full_Name: Marc Thibault
Version: 2.8.1
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
Submission from: (NULL) (216.104.125.106)
I had Adobe Acrobat 5 and Adobe Reader 9 installed. The .pdf "open" association
is to Reader.
When I selected "Help | Manuals(in pdf) | An Introduction to R", it brought up
the file in Acrobat instead of Reader. After making sure the default

Samba 3.0b3 PDC - XP user descriptions
Hi all. I have (another) little question about XP and Samba 3.0b3 acting as
PDC.
When I press CTRL+ALT+DEL in my XP Client I see the message:
",,, has started session as BOOGERSOFT\Boogerman"
(BOOGERSOFT is my domain, and Boogerman is my username).
I also see the ",,," in the top of XP's start menu (when using XP's
startmenu instead of the "classic" start

We could create some special bonware that installs 7 on any XP machine
it encounters. Volunteers?

smb ports feedback
Having read a few posts recently I thought I would do some testing.
Given XP's use of 445 and that I have a couple of networks where they only have XP clients, I thought I would try setting smb ports to 445 only rather than that suggested of just specifying 139.
This has worked well for XP clients with SP2.
However SP1, and presumably pre-SP1 clients, lose all sight of the NBT network.

[3.6.8] XP fails with error 1326
Hello
I've googled and experimented for the past few hours but am still stuck
trying to simply share a temporary directory in read-only with anyone on the
LAN.
Here's the smb.conf I'm using:

/etc/samba# cat smb.conf
[global]
workgroup = WORKGROUP
encrypt passwords = yes
;wins support = yes
;log level = 1
;max log size = 1000
;read only = no

Read failure for 4. Error = connection reset by peer.
I am having a SERIOUS problem with our new 2.2.5 server. In fact I will
probably be forced to move to a Windows 2000 Server platform, as the samba
server is practically useless. Work on any files on the share cannot be
done without major risk of losing data. I get these two errors all day:
[2002/09/19 21:04:21, 0] lib/util_sock.c:read_data(436)
read_data: read failure for 4. Error =

IMAP and Outlook XP Contacts
I was wondering, does Dovecot's IMAP server hand Outlook XP's contact lists?
I tried to enter a contact on my IMAP server and received an error from
Outlook stating that the Contacts formatting was too complex and thus
couldn't be saved.
I went ahead and swung my box over to MailDir and scrapped Sendmail for
Postfix [for maildir support], I was wondering, would this issue continue?

win xp home media edition / Samba 3.023c
I have an issue where one client machine (out of 10, the only one
running 'xp home media') is being forced off periodically and closing
XP's file browser. It seems to be random. My Samba configuration is a
simple one -- just sharing files, it is not handling authentication.
All other clients work as expected: Log in, for the first time, access
as many times as desired after the
