2GB File on AIX 5.2
I'm currently using Samba 3.0.10 binary from Bull AIX Freeware. http://www.bullfreeware.com/download/aix52/samba-3.0.10.0.bff I already configured Samba as a Domain member and ran winbind to authenticate with Domain controller. However, I have no luck to transfer any file larger than 2GB. Here is the error from Samba log file [2005/06/15 14:39:16, 3] smbd/error.c:error_packet(105) error

NFS quotas: truncated files without warning
Hi, we have some Samba instances serving files from a bunch of NFS exports provided by a NAS appliance. Coming from Solaris, we recently have been testing to run our Samba servers on Linux (RHEL 4, Samba 3.0.10-1.4E.12.2). One caveat we didn't expect is that, on Linux, NFS quota errors are reported on calls to close() or fsync(), but not on calls to write(). Through smbclient, we have

MAX PRINT JOBS bugg
My smb.conf file contains in the general section. max print jobs = 50 And i disabled the print queue using this command : disable PrintQueueName Therefore i would expect SAMBA to reject print jobs after the 50th. But in real life it does not, it continues to spool indefinitely. If i run a batch file from a client workstation to print continuously. It means the request to print is made

RAW.WRITE - selftests fail, smbtorture passes
Hello, I'm compiling samba 4.2.2 from source on a Linux From Scratch (LFS) system. Packages I have installed on the system are mixed from various versions of LFS (7.6 through 7.9). This is a 64-bit CPU running 32-bit OS: # uname -a Linux pjnas 4.4.4-asrockN3150-001-1_pj #1 SMP Fri Mar 4 22:40:03 CET 2016 i686 GNU/Linux Samba compiles fine, but a few selftests fail. The ones I'm worried

Samba Share of NFS filesystem
We have a samba share which is a NFS mounted filesystem with user quota. The samba server runs SuSE 9.2, the samba version is 3.0.20b. The filesystem is nfs mounted from a NetApp fileserver. If a user on a windows (xp or 2k) client copies some files onto his samba share and needs more space than the quota allows, the copy operation ends without any error message! As I have seen in the samba

Problem with Share Size
Hi all, I have a problem with samba : I can create files, but can't create directories. The server has many shares, on seperated disks. We consider two of them : one 2Tb share and one share with more than 7Tb. Samba configuration is good, and works on many other servers, and on this one except for the large share. Permissions are correctly setted up too. I can read/write files and

Large File Support on AIX 4.3.3
I've been trying to get rsync to work on AIX 4.3.3 with files > 2GB. I've looked through the archives and saw reference to this, etc. on HPUX but have not been able to come across a solution for AIX. I've tried compiling with the following flags without luck: "-D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64" There error I'm getting is as follows (when hitting the 2GB

Access denied" I chmod 777 the driver directory and spool directory. I gave specified the user as printer admin in the share. My firewall is disabled. Why is it still giving me the access denied error? Best

memory footprint of readRDS()
Dear all, I tried to read in a 3.8Gb RDS file on a computer with 16Gb available memory. To my astonishment, the memory footprint of R rises quickly to over 13Gb and the attempt ends with an error that says "cannot allocate vector of size 5.8Gb". I would expect that 3 times the memory would be enough to read in that file, but apparently I was wrong. I checked the memory.limit() and that

Solaris username character limit issues.
Hello, I've compiled Samba 3.0.4 with Heimdal 0.6.2 and all of the other trimmings to join and ADS tree, which I have successfully done. Winbind correctly pulls all of the username and group information from the ADS tree and all is good. However... I seem to be running into a wall with the wonderful Solaris 8 character username / groupname limit. Usernames with spaces or names longer than
