Issues with Joining an NT4 Domain
Hello I'm having some dificulties joining my Samba 3.0alpha (and 2.2.7a) machine to my NT4 domain. Let me tell you what I'm attempting to accomplish. I want to setup the Samba system to authenticate to my NT domain so that I can use NTLM Proxy authentication with SQUID. Through reading the docs, I'm under the impression that in order to allow thre SQUID/Samba setup to auth on

Winbind to a Samba 3.4 server
I thought I had setup winbind correctly as I can login to my ubuntu 9.04 machine with domain users, but I am trying to get ntlm working with squid, and while testing winbind I get the following error. sudo wbinfo -a MBAG\\user%passwd plaintext password authentication failed Could not authenticate user MBAG\user%passwd with plaintext password challenge/response password authentication failed error

Samba/winbind with Active Directory auth
Hi List, I'm installing a Samba server with the intended purpose of serving files to Windows users with seamless authentication on the smb server. For that, I've been reading and following every single google search result regarding the subject, but it seems I'm stuck at some point where other people are not blocked ... To summarize, I have these commands OK: # kinit admin_user at

smbclient not using winbind to authenticate
Hi All I am using the samba 3.0.14a RPMs installed on SuSE 9.2. I have a PDC running on one machine, using tdbsam as a backend - this has been running fine for months. I am not trying to set up a standalone server in another office, which should authenticate with the PDC using winbind, as per the "The 500-User office" chapter of samba by example :

Home drives not being mounted. Samba 3.0.7 vs W2k TS
At a number of sites we are using Windows 2000 Server SP4 (APPSERVER) as a Terminal Server and a PDC. All user areas are stored on a NetBSD 1.6.2 server with Samba 3.0.7 using security = domain and a named password server. We've joined the domain from the Samba box (domain DOMAINNAME). In general everything works fine, but when a number of clients log on at around the same time (say 25 users

winbind + ADS = NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
Hi all, I've searched the list archives and found similar issues, but none of the resolutions I found worked for me. When I try to connect to my samba share with an Active Directory domain account, I get denied: $ smbclient -U SOTS+jason //media/tmp xxxxxxxx session setup failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE Looking at the log files I found this (complete file is posted below):

problems with authentication
P.S. Test 1, was done with an backend = AD Just verified the other (older) proxy. Debian Jessie, samba 4.8.12. ( also a proxy server ) Same result, all work great :-) Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] Namens > L.P.H. van Belle via samba > Verzonden: maandag 5 augustus 2019 10:08 > Aan: samba at

Backup Servers
Hi, I am using a patch that Jerry wrote that will auto discover any secondary servers on your network and if the one its joined to dies, it will join another one. That's fine, I can join and everything works fine, until I unplug the server im joined to. It takes a few minutes to kill over, and once its detected that its dead, it swaps over and I get this if I then try wbinfo -a

winbind authentication fails with STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW
Using samba-3.0.10-1.4E.2 as supplied by RedHat Enterprise 4. Using security=ADS mode, and using winbind and pam_winbind to authenticate. I was able to sucessfully join the domain, and can enumerate users and groups. Whenever I try to authenticate, it always fails with the status STATUS_BUFFER_OVERFLOW. -------------------pieces of Winbind Logs--------------- [2006/01/26 13:08:55, 5]

Winbind error plaintext password against Windows 2000 Server AD
Hi all, I configured a linux box (Debian Sarge) with Winbind to authenticate against a windows 2000 server AD. After joining the Domain via net rpc join -U Administrator I can get all AD users and groups using wbinfo -u wbinfo -g getent passwd Everything seems to be really fine, but when I try to authenticate against the AD via wbinfo -a testuser%testpass I get: -x-x-x- plaintext

weird winbind problem
I'm setting up a samba server that should authenticate against a samba 3.0 +Ldap PDC server. This is the situation 1) getenet passwd and getent group are ok 2) wbinfo -t -> checking the trust secret via RPC calls succeeded 3) wbinfo -g -> lists all the groups on PDC (nice!) 4) wbinfo -u -> lists all the users on PDC (nice again!) the problem is wbinfo -a test 1: a non existing user

3.6.6 map untrusted to domain does not work if winbind is running
Hi all, I have a domain member server 3.6.6 running on debian7, authenticating against another debian7 + samba 3.6.6 in DC-mode. Both servers have user-accounts and groups on LDAP and resolve posix users using libnss-ldap. The groupmap is living on LDAP as well. The domain member server serves a share with ACL enabled. I got the upgrade to 3.6.X and idmap-updates working, but the old

winbind authentication FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER [samba 3.6.12/AD/openindiana(illumos)]
Hi, My OpenIndiana (opensolaris) machine is joined to Active Directory. I'm using samba 3.6.12 from OpenCSW. wbinfo -u is working fine, getent was not working in the beginning, but after some fiddling with libraries it was working ( I had to create the following two symbolic links, not sure if they both are correct) /lib/libnss_winbind.so -> /opt/csw/lib/libnss_winbind.so.1

Struggling with Samba + AD member config (winbind auth failing) :(
Hello Samba List, I am struggling with connecting samba to our AD servers. Thought it will be easy as before but I was wrong. DCs: Windows Server 2012 (2x) with AD Domain Forest/Level 2003 NATIVE. + SBS 2003 (will be removed, migrating from SBS AD to new 2012 servers) -standard AD schema with exchange attributes DID NOT INSTALL UNIX attributes. This is required for SSSD. Thought i would go

CentOS and Redhat Directory Server
I have implemented LDAP on CentOS successfully using Redhat's Directory Server and the great how-to on the CentOS wiki. Being new to LDAP, I have a question and maybe one of you guys can point me in the right direction: I have LDAP implemented on the network for logins to the workstation pcs. I also have an apache website that I now use LDAP for authentication. What I want, however, is
