home dir permissions change
Hello, I'm having a problem with home directory permissions on samba 3.0.14a running on RHEL 3 with a mix of w2k and xp clients. I'd really appreciate any suggestions or help. Every once in a while, a user's home directory will change from mode 0770 to 0751 (drwxr-x--x). Up until recently, this happened infrequently- usually when a user logged in for the first time or, if an

groupmapping doubts
Hello Samba people ! Thanks to the great docs available, I was able to setup samba as a PDC in a few hours. Everything works as I wish, except one thing. As security is not really a matter in my case, I would like every domain user to be able to install programs on every domain machine. As I understood, this can be achieved by adding every domain user in the "Domain Admins" group. Am I

Samba-3.0 groupmapping problem
Hi, I'm newbie with Samba. I'm using Samba-3.0 directly installed with Fedora core. I've made a PDC linux server with Samba-3.0, openldap-2.1.22 with pam_ldap everything seems to be good but not with net groupmap. when using command: "net groupmap list" I have the following error : [2003/12/15 17:52:15, 0] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldapsam_setsamgrent(2048) ldapsam_setsamgrent:

groupmapping impossible?
Does someone know how to do this group mapping in samba? why does "net groupmap x y" has no effect? If I map a domain group to a local group, then the members of the domain group should be treated as members of the local group, or not? samba3.0.0rc1 - Problems managing groups with UsrMgr
Dear list, I have two problems managing groups from Win2kSP2 client using UserManager for domains. My Linux user and groups are stored in OpenLDAP using pam_ldap+nss_ldap from Padl. Due to the fact that the groups using the ou=Group organizationalUnit, I have set in smb.conf the "ldap group suffix = ou=Group" (using ldapsam as passdb backend). So the Linux group and the

Domain SID issue
Hello I have a client who historical had a machinename with an underscore in it : samba_machine I had to get rid of the underscore names and changed the name to samba-machine. At the same time I upgraded to samba-3.0.11 to get a printer queue problem resolved. Now it seems the Domain SID has changed, so I changed the new SID back to the old one with net setlocalsid, because on all machines I had

samba3/ldap/net groupmap fails
hi, we recently upgraded from samba 2.2.8a w/ldap to samba3 w/ldap and having troubles with domain group mappings. first symptom is that net groupmap list returns nothing. Predict function for 'newdata' of different dimension in svm
I am using the "predict" function on a support vector machine (svm) object, and I don't understand why I can't predict on a dataset with more observations than the training dataset. I think this problem is a generic "predict" problem, but I'm not sure. The original svm was fit on 50 observations.

Workstation running windows xp pro with sp2 applied Things are generally ok, but I am finding that group permissions at the workstation are not being carried to the user, specifically for Domain Users. remove group mappings manually?
Hi, We have a os x server here with duplicate groupmappings unfortunately the net groupmap functions are broken due to apple modifications. Can I manually delete the groupmapping from the database? I assumed the group mappings were stored in ldap but can't find any reference there. The group_mapping tdb also seems empty so asides rom looking at the source I am at a loss. Many thanks Paddy
