Postfix + LMTP with virtual users: how to strip domain from LMTP RCPT TO
Hi, I am trying to set up my own mail server (to get off Google) and I have a problem with mail delivery. I'm using Postfix as a SMTP front-end, and use the LMTP server included in dovecot to receive mail from postfix. I have a setup which works with the dovecot LDA, it involves calling dovecot-lda with the -d flag. Postfix computes the username by removing what's after the

Bad mime type reported for flac file
Hi all, It has recently come to my attention that the linux "file" utility reports some (but not all) of my flac files as having a mime type of "audio/mpeg". Obviously this is incorrect, but why is it reported as such? I've cut and paste a few commands below from my shell to illustrate what I'm seeing: black:/media/mildred/music/Tool/10,000 Days$ file -i *

Intermittent authentication error
Hello, I have an intermittent authentication error between a Windows 2003 Server and AIX 6.1 TL4 Samba 2.2.7. I have the Samba server passing auth details to an active directory server. The account exists on AIX but is locked and there is no smbpasswd entry (this is how I setup all my samba shares). On the Windows server a mapping has been created to mount this path on restart. In most cases

patche for samba-2.0.7/source/smbd/conn.c
Dear all, I have made patch for samba-2.0.7/source/smbd/conn.c This will, instead of using by-directional link, use array for managing connections. # The patch does seems to work on my RHL6.1Ja(fixed) version of # Linux machine. I don't know about other OS/Architecture. This should work better then original because: 1) The original code used bitmap.c for looking empty area. But using

AD integration: "getent passwd" can't see *new* users, but "wbinfo -u" can
I have two different systems (on different networks) showing this behavior. Both are running Ubuntu Dapper/606.1 LTS with samba version 3.0.22 and windows 2003 sp1 servers (not R2). AD integration is done via winbind, with nss using winbind. At some point in time (which is unknown to me), the samba server stopped seeing new users, groups, machines which are added to AD. scenario: I add a new

Help testing regression
Hi, I need help to find the commit when a regression happened: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18436 I know git, and I can run git bisect just fine. Wine compiles (even if I have to patch version 1.0 since freetype changed). But when I try to install my application or run it using the built wine, I got a problem. the WINEPREFIX is an empty directory at the start, and when I run

Upgrading a Samba Domain
I am trying to upgrade our fully functional Samba domain from v3.0.2 to v3.0.7 or v3.0.8. My question is, do I have to upgrade every server in the domain in order for it to work or should I be able to upgrade one server at a time, test it, and move on to the next server? Or should I upgrade the domain controller first, then upgrade the member servers one at a time? I've tried to upgrade

winbind v3.0.26a w. nss info = sfu; wbinfo fine, getent not
wbinfo can turn names into sids, sids into names, and sids into uids. However, getent passwd only finds users in the local /etc/passwd file. Same for getent group. /etc/nsswitch.conf says this: passwd: files winbind group: files winbind shadow: compat I strace'd the getent command. It said it couldn't find /lib/libnss_winbind.so.2, so I made that a symlink to

Upgrading a Samba Domain - SOLVED!
I was able to resolve this issue. Just in case anyone is interested, I HAD to upgrade the PDC FIRST. Then I was able to upgrade the member servers without problems. ********************************************************* I am trying to upgrade our fully functional Samba domain from v3.0.2 to v3.0.7 or v3.0.8. TCP_NODELAY
I recently downloaded and installed v3.0.8 and installed it on HP-UX 11.11. Thankfully, all of the compile problems I reported in 3.0.2 are now gone (not sure why no one ever acknowledged my bug, but whatever). However, now my system is complaining that TCP_NODELAY is not a valid option. I did not turn it off during the compile, don't see it listed as an option, and worse than that, it is

difference between foo$a[2] <- 1 and foo[2,"a"] <- 1
Hallo Can anyone tell me the difference between foo$a[2] <- 1 and foo[2,"a"] <- 1 ? I thought that both expressions are equivalent, but when I run the following example, there is obviously a difference. > foo <- data.frame(a=NA,b=NA) > foo a b 1 NA NA > foo$a[1] <- 1 > foo$b[1] <- 2 > foo$a[2] <- 1 Error in `$<-.data.frame`(`*tmp*`,

Issue with exim and auth protocol
Hi, I'm trying to set up exim (4.83) as a submission server, and need to set up the dovecot authentication in exim. I'm having an issue with that (documented at <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=756258>) The problem is that exim doesn't follow the handshake as described here: <http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Design/AuthProtocol>. The wiki page says that the

Samba working (has been for years) but logs full of NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
Hi. My samba server is working for everybody but the logs are full of "NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED" messages So I turned logging a little higher and found out what shares/files are accessed when this happens. It, too, happens not to ALL users. I see this: guest user (from session setup) not permitted to access this share (TestPrograms) [2015/03/17 16:00:58.165672, 1]

doveot reporting "No space left on device" - yet df show plenty of space / inodes.
Hi, I am running dovecot 1.0.rc7 on a Suse Linux server. The server has approx 200+ mailboxes. Last week the filesystem (/dev/mapper/datavg/dat2lv) ran out of space - causing it to do into read-only mode. When I realised this I allocated some more space and re-booted the machine... Strangely it seems that dovecot is still having problems... It's like dovecot doesn't realise that
