Authentication for user -> FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
Good day all Newbie problem again... I?ve been setting up a samba box for a few days now and have been quite successful in most respects. I can get the win2000 machines to join the domain and I can see the password being authenticated too. I can even see the shared drives. The problem I?ve having is that after a few log on and log off I can?t seem to logon again. At the win2000 login

Error message when trying to do smbmount
Hi, Up until a couple weeks ago, I had a working connection between my Linux and Win2000 machines with Samba. But nowadays, whenever I type: smbmount //amiadmin/Scan32 /mnt/scan -o credentials=/root/creds where amiadmin is the Win2000 machine, I get the following error message: INFO: Debug class all level = 1 (pid 28704 from pid 28704) 28704: session setup failed: ERRSRV - 2242 SMB

Windows 2000 user profiles and Samba PDC
Although I've been using Samba with Linux and Windows 9x for some time, now I need to deal with integrating Windows 2000 workstations into the mix and I'm having a lot of aggravation with user profiles. I don't know if this trouble is specific to Samba or whether it's another "This behavior is by design" "feature" of Win2000. Windows 2000 has no apparent

Problem : Samba 3.0.2a as PDC with Win2000 Pro
Hi, all.... Honestly I'm a newbie in Linux. For a couple days, I've been trying to build my own PDC server. I've got enough manual resource for guidance, but somehow, untill now I can't log my Win2000 Profesional into the PDC server. I'm using Debian sid kernel 2.6.5, Samba 3.0.2a and a Win2000 box as client. I think there's nothing wrong with my smb.conf ( I guess...

Samba PDC + Winbind
Hello all. First, a little background... I recently downloaded samba-*-ldap-2.2.5-2mdk , installed on Mandrake 8.2 and got everything working fine. I have LDAP installed for "single sign-on" support. I can use LDAP to authenticate other Linux boxes, and have Samba as a PDC for some Win2000 boxes - all working fine. Linux users are the same as PDC users, except for their passwords

User Profiles
Hello all. I'm in the process of getting roaming profiles up and running on a RH 7.3 installation, running as a PDC on an 'NT Domain'. I've been reading the PROFILES.txt, and need to clear some things up. Do the rules that apply for WinNT, apply to Win2000, specifically the NTConfig.Pol file. If it does, I can't find it on either the samba server or the Win2000 machine,

user can no longer connect to shares
Hi, I'm using the setup defined for my RH9 box to participate in a Win2000 domain. I have server = domain, etc. This has been working fine for several months. As of this morning, one user can no longer access samba shares. His account settings haven't changed. I am able to access shares from his workstation using my account. I checked the log for his workstation. He has a number of

Windows Clients Don't process login script
I have Win2000 clients, Win XP clients, and Win 98 clients that log in to a Samba PDC. They join the Domain and log in but the Windows 2000 and XP clients are not running the login scripts. The Windows 98 Machines map drives and merge a file to the registry for internet settings. I can't figure out why. I have a netlogon folder shared with read access to everyone. The problem is on a

Access denied when printing to Samba printers
Howdy all, I'm setting up a print server machine to serve hosts in an Active Directory domain. Debian GNU/Linux ("sarge", current testing branch), Samba 3.0.0beta2-1. Success so far: - All steps in the current DIAGNOSIS document <http://au1.samba.org/samba/devel/docs/html/diagnosis.html> - Sharing printer drivers from the [print$] share (yay!) - Connecting to the

Problems with password authentication on Samba as an AD-Member
Hello, I've got some problems with a Samba Server. The Samba Server is member in an Active-Directory Domain (Win2000), it is NOT the domaincontroller. Authentication is kerberos-based (smb.conf: securty=ADS, winbind). The Sambaserver is accessed by Windows-Clients, that are domainmembers and by some Windows-Client, that are not. Originally Users, who were logged on the domain could access

Win2000 connecting to Samba 2.0.6 server
Greetings: I have just upgraded my Win98 client machines to Win2000, and now, I am no longer able to connect to my Samba Server, nor any of the samba shares. The ip addresses of the Client workstations are in the range of 192.168.0.200 tto 192.168.0.250. The ip address of the samba server is 192.168.0.4. The client workstations belong to the 'workgroup' group. Below is a copy

ActiveX Controls Not Working
For a month I've been trying to get ActiveX controls working from the ToolkitCMA.com site with IE6. Some serious weirdness going on. So now I check what I look like at http://bellsnwhistles.com/bells.html, and it informs me that: "The Browser you are using is Microsoft Internet Explorer (Mozilla) 4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98)" Eh no, I check Help|About IE, and it

WinNT4 and Win2000 different behaviour authenticating to printer shares ?
I have set-up a Samba server (FreeBSD 4.5 release and Samba 2.2.2) which is used in our Office as a PDF-converter. The Server gets the file as a Postscript file using a Samba Printer share and then sends it back to the user by e-mail. This all works excellent using Win2000 on the clients. The user prints to the share PDF using a Postscript driver, the print job gets sent and a few seconds later

WinXP allows login to expired/forbidden accounts
Hi, I've stumbled upon this problem while trying to limit access to specific machine to specific domain users. I did it by setting Samba to obey PAM restrictions, and then using the pam_access PAM module ('account' clause) to do user validation (described below). On Win2000, this works fine - if an unauthorized user tries to login, Win2000 says 'Account not permitted to

win2000 and samba
Hi, We have a samba server 2.2.4 in a RH 6.2 Linux system. I should say that the samba server is working well except for a win2000 workstation. For this win2000, the user can mount network drive to the samba server, e.g. H: to \\sambaserver\username, it asks the password, if entered correctly. it is connected. No problem at all. However, if the user reboots the win2000, the poblem comes.

Running Samba 2.2.2 on Sun Solaris servers using NIS Scenario: I have 5 different samba servers that I map permanent drives to in Windows 2000. When I boot 2000 I get a login for my username and password then it starts to automatically map the samba drives. I am then prompted for a username and password for each separate samba

samba3.0.1/win2000ad/kerberos5: user cannot logon
Hi everyone! I've googled alot for this, and found *some* people with similar questions, but there was no answer if this is a bug in samba, a misconfiguration, or what? I have a win2000 active directory Server (wurzel.baum.local), a samba 2.2.3a on debian stable/woody (stamm.baum.local), security = user, a samba 3.0.1 on debian testing/Sarge (blatt1.baum.local) and a windowsxp machine joined

Samba PDC & Win2000
I found out, that the reason Win2000 clients could not connect to Samba, was because Win2000 uses an unknown uid to log the machine on the samba domain. Which uid do Win2000 use? Right now, I have set "Restrict Anonymous = False" to permit Win2000 clients to connect. Previously I have used some scripts to add network drives etc. in netlogon. Win2000 do not seem to call these scripts.

New versions of lattice and grid
I just ran package update on my Win2000 R-1.6.1 and it installed new versions of lattice and grid (0.6-7 and 0.7-3 respectively). Then I ran demo(lattice) and noticed that the last plot, which is supposed to illustrate math expression usage, fails in the sense that all expression are shown literally. For example the title of the plot reads " pi*sum(x, i=0, n)", the x-axis label is
