Using Samba 3.0.9-Debian on Linspire 5.0.59. Server running is a Windows
2003 Server.
I am trying to mount a share on the server but getting error message:
cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it.

In smb.conf I have changed setting "server signing = no" to "server

Thanks Alex, your suggestion along with some additonal tweaks helped solve
my problem. The balance has once again been restored in my little universe.

smbpasswd stops working post-upgrade
"cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and the server doesn't support it"
Should mean that your Samba is too old for your clients.
See badlocks bug to better view of your issue.
See man smb.conf looking for "sign" into it.
I believe - but I'm not sure - that the option you are looking for are:
client ldap sasl wrapping = sign
client use spnego = yes

Cannot connect to a windows network
Hello,
I am trying to use Samba to let me mount windows network drives on an
Ubuntu Dapper Server installation that I am using as a desktop.
Using:
testparm
my smb.conf seems to be ok.
Using
smbclient -L GM.local -U username -p
Gives me a full listing of all network drives, which again seems to be
good. So now I try this:
sudo mount -t smbfs -o username=username \//GM.local/DC4

How do I read a text (.csv) file to match a matrix/cross tab? (Object confusion??)
I'm having a problem reading data to set control totals for a dataframe.
I want to adjust a dataframe based on a 2-d table of values, which I get
by using :
> CurrentX1Sums <- as.matrix(xtabs(~tripid_nu+lineon, data=SurveyData))
> CurrentX2Sums <- apply(CurrentX1Sums, 1, sum)
I've created a .csv file with new (target) sums that looks like this:

smbpasswd stops working post-upgrade
Background
I have a network of machines behind an air-gap, therefore upgrades are a
tedious business normally performed four times per year. The systems
run various versions of CentOS and I use the Samba that is distributed
with CentOS. Last weekend I updated the 5.7 machines with updates to 18
April 2016, not the current 5.8. Those of my users who run Windows
boxes (Windows 7 Enterprise)

SMB 3.0 & W2003: cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory ...
Hi!
I'm trying to connect to a share on a Windows 2003 server with samba
3.0.0. I have edited smb.conf as was instructed in chapter 7 of the
Samba-HOWTO-Collection to include the following:
client use spnego = yes
When I try to connect to the server, I get the following error:
cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it

Q: mount -t smbfs: "cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it."
Hi,
I was trying smbmount (SuSE's samba-client-3.0.20b-3.4). The mount command
replied:
cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it.
9451: protocol negotiation failed
SMB connection failed
No I'd suggest to change the message at least: It's unclear who "we" is: The Samba
Team, the client, or the server
The server is a "Windows 2003 server",

cifs error 13
We had a new server put in on our local network and I am unable to mount
it's file shares - mount -t smbfs works on the old server but it doesn't
work on the new one because of the SMB signing problem. However, I
cannot get mount -t cifs to work on either of them. Anyone have any
ideas what the problem could be?
Thx

User Rights
Color me stupid!
I have set up a small SAMBA network using a Caldera Systems eServer 2.3
implementation of Linux with a AMD K-6/2 and 128 meg RAM. It works
great from one computer, and one user id, but I am unable to login as
any other user. The one user is set up in such a way that it would
create a serious security hole (member of group root). The server shows
up in the network neighborhood,

Help sought for email problem
My home server is running CentOS-7.1
I'm running postfix and dovecot on it.
I collect email from a few sources with fetchmail
and move it to ~/Maildir/cur/ with procmail.
Or at least, I did do this.
For some reason procmail has stopped doing its job,
and the email that I collect is finishing in /var/spool/mail/tim/
I can't work out what has caused this,
or what the cure is.
I haven't

Got strange message when using wbinfo/winbind on Samba-3 beta3
Hi,
I have joined a ADS (W2003 server) with success.
Started winbindd.
When I run any wbinfo commands I recieve the following message
in the logfile and the command fails:
cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it.
I am using the same smb.conf as for beta1 and beta2.
What have changed or what have missed ?
I am running on Solaris 9.

[LLVMdev] Fwd: Building VMKit
Hi Joshua,
What plans did you have for GC? No GC at all or Avian JVM has its own GC
(and is it precise or not?)?
If you're not planning on using VMKit's GCs, then 64-bit system should not
be a big problem: the only problem that we have now is compiling GNU
Classpath, and most probably Avian JVM has its own version of the class
libraries?
Also, note that platform support will be strongly

[LLVMdev] Fwd: Building VMKit
Hi Joshua,
If you can get a running 32bit system, I'd suggest you do so, as you'll get
up to speed right away. I can't test VMKit on a 64bits machine, and I have
been aware that there are some compilation/execution problems. Besides, the
current GCs of VMKit do not work on 64bits (neither MMTk nor GCMmap2).

Asterisks isn't handling the negotation between the 2 devices very well..

subset point data set by distance ranges
Greetings
I'm using R 2.8 with recent (last month) versions of the packages I need to
use at present.
I'm interested in examining hierarchical spatio-temporal patterns in a data
set. The data consist of 94 points (X, Y, UTM coordinates) at which catch
rates for a fish were recorded and there are also estimates of prey
available for these fish at the same locations.
