Re: Which Samba (CIFS ?) For HPUX 11.00 ?
Hi Nick, This topic should be on samba@lists.samba.org - not technical. I'll give you a brief overview, and any followup send to me directly. HP-CIFS Server for 11.0 is based upon Samba 2.2.12. Support for 11.0 ends there - at 2.2.12. Go to: http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=B8725AA If you want to continue on 11.0, HP posts 3.0.14a Opensource

Reproducible Printer Properties PANIC in Samba 3.0.22-25 (CIFS/9000 A2.03.01)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Good day all, I am running CIFS/9000 (which is based on Samba 3.0.22 with, I'm guessing, security and serious bug fixes through 3.0.25 -- it's not all that clear), and running all of this on an HP-UX 11.11 PA-RISC server. The problem I have is when I do a right-click on a mapped printer and ask for the properties, my connected daemon

cifs mount | then change password on DC
Hi, Not sure if this is the place to ask, but: We have user who uses mount -t cifs to mount his files on his machine. Then this user changed his AD password. Then, suddenly his account started to become LOCKED_OUT on the AD DCs, because of too many FAILED with error NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD After umounting the cifs mount, the FAILED with error NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD disappeared, and the

cifs mount | then change password on DC
MJ, Have a look at : * BUG 12782: winbindd changes the local password and gets NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD for the remote change. Fixed in 4.6.7, this looks bit like your problem, not complete sure. If its a VM, testing is simple, backup the VM and upgrade to debian stretch. ( more recent kernel so more recent cifs ) And now install my 4.6.7 package and test again. Greetz,

hp-ux samba windows client fails to delete directory
Hi, Thanks for your reply. >> yes, probably works as designed. I have enabled "strict rename" also but the behavior is still same. As some time \FOLDER_A\FOLDER_B gets deleted but not \FOLDER_A, while sometime both \FOLDER_A and , \FOLDER_A\FOLDER_B got deleted. Behavior is not consistent in this scenario. Which one of above is expected behavior by design ? -----Original

Samba 3.0.x to HP CIFS Server move
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I am currently running Samba 3.0.11 compiled for HP-UX 11i (PA2.0). I am looking at upgrading to the most current version of Samba, but I see that HP has finally caught up with the rest of the planet and is now offering 3.0.22 with select fixes from 3.0.23. This is decent news because upgrades were often problematic on HP-UX and I will have HP's

cifs mount issue (cannot read files)
In version 3.0.23a (as a file server), I've noticed that CIFS clients (mount samba shares as cifs) get read errors. For example, if the vi a text file on the share, they get a read error. If the more a text file, nothing comes back, but the prompt. In 3.0.10 (pre configured by Centos, not compiled by me) this is not a problem. Here are my 3.0.23a options during configure:

Request for explanation on NFS re-export issue
I have a situation involving Samba that I _believe_ may be the fault of a buggy or old NFS daemon, but am not sure. I'm hoping someone can explain to me what is going on here (I have found a workaround). I have a Samba server on Fedora 7 (3.0.25b + whatever patches Fedora includes). This server exports a share called software which points to a local directory on that server /software.

Cannoi delete files: "the mounted file system does not support extended attributes"
Hi all, I'm having what seems like a strange problem, I hope I'm not missing something obvious, any help will be appreciated. When trying to delete files on a Samba share, I get the message "Cannot delete <file>: The mounted file system does not support extended attributes." What is strange is that it depends on weird conditions: in one directory, if I create a file

RE: Samba locking problems
Hi Bernd, For now, we have backed down to 2.2.4. This seems to have solved our problems. This is frustrating, though, since we wanted to upgrade to at least 2.2.5+patches to possibly improve our situation with downloadable printer drivers. In my last post to the Samba mailing list, I mentioned that downgrading to 2.2.4 fixed my problems and asked for suggestions, but yours has been the only

Difference in Samba and CIFS interms of keeping the deleted files opened
Hi, We have a CIFS server running on a NetApp server and a Solaris host running Samba-3.3.2. When we mount both the filesystems to a Drive on a Windows using the net use command and then try to run a java program which basically does nothing but continuosly writes a data chunk to a file. On a side note, these same filesystems are accessible on a Solaris (unix) host too. When the java program is
