[Fwd: Re: Won't Start Automatically]
Hi, ntsysv doesn't list the samba daemons (smbd, nmbd), and while I could use chkconfig, it appears, to add the daemons, I'd rather do this via the rcx.d links so I can understand what's going on. [Fwd: Re: [Fwd: Re: Won't Start Automatically]]
Actually, my problem turns out to be even more basic and foolish than that. I assumed that since the relevant Kill files were present in the ls listing, then the Start files would be, too. Nope. I had to make those soft links; when I did, everything worked properly. Eric Hines -------- Forwarded Message -------- From: Paul Gienger <pgienger@ae-solutions.com> <snip> Date: Sun, 27

Load Balancing over multiple NICS
I was currious about setting up load balancing for my company fileserver. This machine get's heavy usage and we would like to load balance the traffic over two 1 Gigabit NICS. How would this be best accomplished? Should we set up a firewall rules that will NAT for that machine or does samba have a built in mechinism? -- David Sonenberg Systems / Network Administrator Stroz Friedberg,

OT: NIC
Folks, I'm trying to add a network interface card to my SUSE 9.3 box, and I'm not having much luck with a US Robotics version. What manufacturer do any of you use in your machines--either 10/100MB or GigE NIC? Stable Network Down
Hi, I've had a stable Samba-run LAN, with some active shares, for several months, with my PC and laptop also gaining access to the Internet through the Samba server. However, this morning, when I booted up my Samba server, I had no LAN--neither my PC nor my laptop could connect to any share. However, both still had access to the Internet. I confirmed that smb, named, winbindd, et al.,

[Fwd: Samba-3 By Ex Chapt 3]
One more thing I forgot to mention. The chapter calls for editing /etc/resolv.conf, but in my case it won't stay edited--it keeps getting set back to an original form (for searching my ISP) on every reboot. Thanks again. Samba Install/SWAT Access
I'm running FC3, kernel 2.6.9-1.667, with the KDE desktop. This came with Samba v 3.0.11-fc3 bundled. I've since installed v 3.0.14a. I'm also extremely new to Linux, so please bear with me. My questions are very basic. The FC3-bundled samba is in /etc/samba, and the "upgrade" went into /usr/local/samba. To get SWAT to work, I had to copy the smb.conf that's in

update_va_mapping_otherdomain
Greetings, I have a technical question about update_va_mapping_otherdomain....... I have two components: a C program linked against libxc and a kernel module which performs the following simple sequence of events from domain zero: 1. Pause guest (unprivileged) 2. Grabs the PTE associated with a random (but present) page within the guest''s kernel''s address space (using a

Can I use SGI''s kdb with a dom0 pv-ops kernel?
I asked this a few weeks ago but didn''t get a response, so at the risk of being a nag, I''ll abbreviate and restate. I know there are other Xen specific debuggers, but I want to know if there''s any reason why SGI''s kdb, http://oss.sgi.com/projects/kdb, should not be included in a dom0 pv-ops kernel? While the patches apply cleanly and build, the result is that
