Finding the GID of AD groups on samba
Hi Folks: A couple weeks ago, the list helped me develop the way to find the UID of users on my AD system. At the time I did not think that it would be necessary to know the GID of the AD Groups, but I am hitting some snags where I need to change the group ownership of folders etc. I suspect that the necessary command is a variant of the getent command, but man getent has not yielded where I

Finding the UID of samba users
Hi Folks: I am in the process of moving all of our users over to our new Samba File server which runs FC3. In order to properly secure the home folders, I need to chown them to the UID of the individual user, and chgrp them to the domain users group. I know the GID for the domain users, so no problem there. Is there a way to find a list of the UID for all the users. I know that I can do it

Help with Domain Authentication
Good Morning Everyone: I am running into a problem here that is beginning to frustrate me very seriously. I am running a windows 2003 Active Directory Domain that has several Fedora Core 2 Servers in it. One of the servers is a file server, and another is a webserver, both of which run samba (what ever version a recent yum update would have updated FC2 to). I have a computer class that

Help Needed
Good Morning: I am having trouble with my samba server on FC3. For some reason I cannot get it to authenticate against the domain, In order for domain users to be able to access resources, it requires me to create samba users and input their windows password for it to work (which is terrible security practice). I have been fiddling around on a development server (which in now being rebuilt

Winamp Shoutcast DSP to Icecast?
Thanks for the quick response, Philipp. I'll specify the mount and see if that fixes my problem. For what it's worth, the following appears in the icecast.xml which came with my download of 2.4.2 just beneath the authentication section. Is there help I can offer in removing this section from, or correcting it in, the file for future packages? set the mountpoint for a shoutcast source

Please have a look at the config file (icecast*.xml). In the <paths> section there should be a <webroot> as well as a <adminroot> setting. Asterisk with Lucent TNT echo
I'm running SIP between my Lucent TNT acting as a gateway, and an asterisk server. We have a PRI coming into the Lucent. Basically the problem I'm having is mostly on inbound calls but some outbound calls as well. I hear echo and sometimes some weird artifacting on calls coming in from the lucent. Everything routed over IAX to VoIP Jet or Nufone sounds fine. It seems like every 3

I think it's because the website uses Flash as first player instead of using it as a fallback for when the browser does not support modern web standards like the audio tag. Hello Philipp. Thanks so much for the educatin about why not to build myself. The error I was getting, from a browser when I tried to open the URL to my machine running Icecast, was a 404 error and a message that it couldn't find the XSLT files. I'll install the packaged build again later today and provide you exact error text, but I remember it saying it couldn't find or process the

Relays Ending With "Disconnecting source due to socket timeout"
Sorry to leave that out. My connections typically last 2-6 hours before the socket timeout error. The streams are MP3, either 64KBPS or 128KBPS. Nathan also asked about firewalls. My Windows Firewall is off, and my machine's antivirus doesn't have a firewall feature. I don't think there's any firewall in play here. Before emailing the list, I looked through several months of
