Users can't login on Samba+Ldap
Hi,
I've migrated from an old samba installation (Samba as PDC) that used TDB
backend for password.
I've setup a box with ubuntu and samba 3 + ldap and I imported the old
users.
Old users works fine.
I have problems with new users and machines.
Old users works but they don't show up with smbldap-usershow command and

Joining PDC w/LDAP Question
Should I be required to add the machine to my passwd file even if I am using
LDAP when joining a W2K domain domain? The only way I can get a machine to
join my Samba PDC is via the following commands.
# /usr/sbin/useradd -g 100 -d /dev/null -c "asa" -s /bin/false asa$
# smbpasswd -a -m asa
I thought that using ldapsam would lookup all machine information from LDAP
without having to

Erratic behavior when Windows XP clients attempt to login to PDC
I have noticed while testing my Samba 3.0.2a primary and backup domain
controllers with Windows XP clients, that when I attempt to login to the
Samba PDC, the XP client will sometimes randomly choose the backup
domain controller. I only want the client to join the backup domain
controller when the PDC is offline. I am not experiencing any random
network outages or DNS failures so I am bewildered

Group Mapping Problems with Samba 3.0.2a & OpenLDAP 2.2.6
Hello all,
I am attempting to setup a Samba 3.0.2a based PDC using OpenLDAP 2.2.6 for
my user/group authentication backend. So far everything seems to be working
properly, I can join the domain from a Win2k PC, login via an account
created with smbldap-useradd.pl, map my home directory, run the proper login
script, etc. However, with all of that working I'm still having
difficulties getting

machine accounts aren't added properly with smbldap-useradd.pl + ldap backend
Yay, I finally got my samba 3 PDC working!
Following a variety of indirect hints I used the root account to join,
rather than trying to mess around with various groups and group
mappings. I had done this before, with no good effect, but checked more
carefully this time and found that it was my machine account that was
not being found, not the root account.
Further investigation shows that when

Linux-to-Linux Samba Migration
I'm working on migrating from Mandrake 10.0 to Ubuntu 5.10. The last,
and probably most important, service to be moved is Samba...
The setup is fairly simple, here is is:
- Mandrake Linux 10.0
- Samba 3.0.10
Here's the "global" Samba configuration of my server:

NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE with ldap backend
Hi all,
I've configured my samba server to work with my ldap backend, the
configuration of ldap is correct and in fact my users can interactively
login. The problem is with samba, that is always returning a
NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE when a user tries to access a share. I'm in doubt if
I have to add ldap accounts through the ldap-tools of samba or not, at the
moment I did not add any
