Samba locks with PC crash
We are experiencing this current problem: some users are locking Lotus Notes files on a Samba share. When their pc crash (ex: power off the pc without shutting down windows), the file is still locked. So when they boot up a few mins after the crash, they can't open Lotus Notes because some files are still locked by themself. So we need to kill the samba process. This is happening a lots of

Samba performance issue
Hi, In the last a couple of weeks, Eric helped me fixed a couple of my new samba 3.0.5 running on HP-UX 11i hang issues. Right now, people still experience slowness when they run some applications on the samba shares OR recursive list directories on the samba shares. There was not a lot of errors in the individual log files. However, there are some errors in log.smbd and log.0.0.0.0 file. 1)

Semantics of "smb ports = 0"
Hello, The qemu emulator has a feature to fork a samba instance for file sharing with the emulated hosts. It communicates with smbd over stdin. The generated configuration file contains a "smb ports = 0" directive to prevent smbd from listening to any ports. Unfortunately, with at least Samba 3.6.4 this causes a segfault instead: [0] vostro:/tmp/qemu-smb.6836-0# smbd -i -s smb.conf

open_sockets_smbd: accept: Software caused connection abort
Sorry if this is an FAQ...I have seen reports of this problem on several mailing lists, but never a solution. I have used Samba on Solaris for years, currently 2.2.1 on Solaris 9. Trying to upgrade to 3.0.6, with no luck on 2 different Solaris 9 systems. It compiles and installs OK, but clients can't connect. Not only Win2k and XP PC's, but smbclient -L on the same machine

no network interfaces found on OpenIndiana (Illumos)
Hi, I've downloaded the samba 3.6.12 OpenCSW package. I joined openindiana to the the active directory, winbind seems to work fine, I see all the users with "wbinfo -u". However, my samba server is not starting. It seems that there is no network card found. 2013/03/06 10:40:39.068405, 0] lib/interface.c:543(load_interfaces) WARNING: no network interfaces found [2013/03/06

samba errors - "No buffer space available"
I am new to Samba, having just taken over management of a HPUX system in a mainly Windows environment. The system is running Samba 3.0.7. I am getting the following errors, repeatedly, in my log.smbd. What does it mean? Is this actually a problem or normal chatter for Samba? If it is a problem, what should I do to correct it? sockaddr structure elements
Dear All, We are using samba 3.0.24 compiled for xscale on two devices: We are running a smbclient and smb daemon on two different devices, 192.168.1.39 (smbd) and 192.168.1.24 (smbclient). When we establish a smbclient connection from client -> Server, in the smbd/server.c:open_sockets_smbd() function, we are getting sockaddr structure values as follows (caught at debug data on smbd):

Access to sockets denied in Termux
Is anyone familiar with using a samba server in Android Termux? It works OK for an smbmount in a Linux qemu VM, in the instance started by the -nic smb=$PATH option of qemu (both qemu-system-x86_64 and samba installed to Termux) but smbd -D fails with this log: [2024/01/06 11:46:54.038658, 0] ../../source3/smbd/server.c:1741(main) smbd version 4.16.11 started. Share lock between server
Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to share lock between two network dispatched samba server. ex: we have a cname named "samba", which dispatch connection on samba01 and samba02. But if a user open a Microsoft Word file on samba01, I don't want someone connected on samba02 to be able to make change on it at the same time. thanx

NT logon ok but XP logon very slow
Hi, Our environment: HP-UX 11.00 server / Samba 3.0.21a as PDC / OpenLDAP backend We're developping a migration from AS/U to a Samba PDC. Currently we have following problem: logging onto an NT4 workstation is almost instantaneous, but when logging onto an XP workstation, this happens: (1) We type the user and password in Windows logon. (2) Windows logon immediately accepts user and
