authentication problem with openldap-2.2.24
My problem consists of Samba + Winbindd + Ldap + Kerberos not
authenticating with Active Directory. For example, if I do 'smbclient -L
localhost -U username%password(active directory account)' I get
NT_STATUS_LOGIN_FAILURE. Ive debugged for quite sometime trying to
pinpoint some sort of configuration that needs to be changed or added.
To my experience I think the problem resolves at

Update 4.10.2 to 4.10.4: Cant create files in subdirectorie anymore
Hi everyone,
since i upgraded from 4.10.2 to 4.10.4 i can't write into subdirectories
of a share anymore.
This worked perfectly fine before i upgraded and also works again if i
downgrade.?
I think either something is fishy with the 'filename_convert_internal'
function of ".../source3/smbd/filename.c"
or my configuration needs to be adjusted for 4.10.4. I tried several

What are they trying to do here?
Hi!
I?m new to the list, and I?m not really having a ?problem?, but I?m seeing
something in my log files that I wonder if I should be concerned.
I?ve been using Dovecot (dovecot-0.99.14-8.fc4) on my Fedora Core 4 (kernel
2.6.17-1.2142_FC4) machine from quite some time.
For the last few days, I?ve been seeing this in my daily ?Logwatch? e-mail:

Samba4 and idmap backend (ad/rid)
Hi,
I eventually managed to install and join a Samba4 server as a member in an
AD environment but I have a problem with the id command.
wbinfo commands work but when I launch id command with a domain user I get
"user unknown".
Here is my smb.conf (Took from Samba Wiki) :
idmap config *:backend = tdb
idmap config *:range = 70001-80000
idmap config MYDOMAINNAME:backend = ad

DNS_INFO_NO_RECORDS when trying to join domain
Hi.
I've a Samba 3.4.7 running on Ubuntu 10.04 configured as PDC.
It has always worked but lately these months strange things started to happen: clients cannot join the domain anymore.
I had to reinstall a computer but when I tried to add it back to the domain I get this error message in Windows XP: DNS_INFO_NO_RECORDS.
It seems windows cannot get server name via dns?
The samba server runs

virsh blockcommit hangs at 100%
hi,
i am trying to blockcommit a external qcow2 snapshot back into its raw
backing file like:
sudo virsh blockcommit myDomainName vda --wait --verbose
the output just shows:
Block Commit: [100 %]
and stays like that (i waited about an hour or so...). No "Commit
complete" message.
- explicitly passing --base and/or --top arguments makes no difference.
- did not find a related log

Samba as a DC
Hey there,
I have configured samba to behave as a DC "by the book" (by the howto in
fact...).
Everything seems to work fine, I am using windows XP clients, I have
changed the registry settings like the howto says, rebooted and then added
the station. I have managed to log into the machine with a domain user and
everything looked great, when I tried adding the domain user to the

Unable to join domain by using NetJoinDomain on Windows
Hello,
I am using samba 4.8.6 and 4.9.1 to build a domain. And I have a Windows 7
virtual machine to join the domain. However, I found it was fail when I
used the NetJoinDomain which is the C# Library on Windows.
I am using the Unsecure option, authenticating by the machine password. And
Here is my code

Windows XP client apps crash/hang when starting file-picker
Hello.
I have a small and simple local network with a Samba server (v.3.6.6 on
Debian Wheezy) and Windows clients, a mix of Windows 2000 and XP
(32-bit) and 7 (64-bit). In recent times, possibly since I upgraded the
server OS version, but most likely before, the Windows XP clients (but
not 2000 or 7) have all experienced problems where if any application
tries to open a file-picker (for

Inconsistant AD group authentication
Greetings friends:
So heres the problem I've been fighting for the last month to no avail.
My samba server is joined to a mixed mode AD domain. I want to set
permissions on shares based on AD groups, however only _some_ of the
group's members are allowed to access the share when I add their group
to "valid users". As far as I can tell there are no differences between
