winbind 3.0.11 breaks winbind trust if netbios disabled?
Hi all.
I've just upgraded from 3.0.7 to 3.0.11 and now my server can no longer
establish a trust relationship with the domain controllers. It appears
to be because we have netbios turned off (in config: disable netbios = yes).
I was getting this error:
trusted_domains: Could not open a connection to DBG for PIPE_NETLOGON (NT_STATUS
_DOMAIN_CONTROLLER_NOT_FOUND

samba-3.0.20a: winbind with "disable netbios = yes"?
Hello,
I'm trying to use ntlm_auth and winbindd to authenticate users against
a Windows 2003 AD server. Despite having "disable netbios yes", winbindd
insists on doing one NetBIOS exchange on UDP port 138 on startup. If I
block this port "wbinfo -t", "wbinfo -a username", and ntlm_auth request
fail with:
error code was NT_STATUS_INVALID_COMPUTER_NAME

I have look through the smb.conf man pages and can find where you set

wbinfo fails with disable netbios = yes
I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this one. Ever since beta3
I've been unable to get wbinfo to work properly. I finally worked
around it today, and it seems that with the disable netbios = yes
parameter in my smb.conf file, I get no results. Commenting out that
parameter seems to work fine. It looks like the DNS queries for DCs
is unsuccessful without NetBIOS enabled.

guest ok = yes, not working(?)
I've setup a samba-3.0.11 share with
[General]
guest account = ftp
security = domain
[pub]
comment = pub
path = /pub
read only = yes
browseable = no
guest ok = yes
And attempts to access the share from WinXP(sp2) clients anonymously fail,

Differenet behavior when using dns name and netbios name
Hello,
Here is something I have just noticed and was wondering if anyone else
has noticed this.
When I address the samba server with its primary dns name, there are no
problems with observing and changing the settings of the printers.
When I address the samba server using the netbios name (different than
the dns hostname though it is a cname for this machine), I cannot see
any of the printer

Samba 3.0.11 Compile Error
Hello.
I'm trying to run Samba on HP-UX (IA64), but I can't compile Samba source.
I have this following packages:
Samba 3.0.11
libiconv 1.9.1
HP-UX 11.23 (IA64)
"configure" process is ok.
At "make" process, I encounters the parsing error.
I attached the compile error log.
Do you have information how to compile Samba on HP-UX (IA64)?

rpc trust gives NT_STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE with 3.0.11
When I try to establish a trust from SAMBA 3.0.11 to Windows 2003 I get the
error: NT_STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE. I have no problem the other way. I had no
problem either, when I ran SAMBA 3.0.9, and the problem disappeared when I
down-graded to 3.0.9.
Here is what happens ('CALYPSO' is the Windows-server and 'KONTOR' is its
domain-name):

Samba 3.0.11 smbd hangs
Hi Guys,
I have experienced an issue when the smbd stops responding, and after cannot
kill the process, using SIGTERM or SIGKILL. A reboot cured the problem. I
had the same problem once again a couple of days later. I realised that both
times I had changed my smb.conf file directly, using vi, and shortly before
the hang occured. The changes to the file were very minor, and the two were

Hi,
I recently upgraded our PDC to Samba 3.0.20 from 3.0.11. Unfortunately the
user manager (usrmgr.exe) does not show all the users anymore. I cannot
find the real culprit yet, but:

Problem with 3.0.10 and 3.0.11 with 1 smbd process using 99% cpu
I've been having problems since updating to samba 3.0.10 on Debian 3.1
Below is the output of ltrace and gdb on the offending smbd process.
I tried upgrading to 3.0.11 and the problem still exists. Anyone have
any suggestions?

Problem with "ldapsam:trusted = yes"
Hi,
I updated from 3.0.11 to 3.0.12 and tried the new ldapsam:trusted
parameter. Alas smbd dies silently a second after startup.
With debug level 2 I can't see any reason in the logfile. My smb.conf is
(relevant part I hope):

netbios aliases = fileserver revreselif
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://localhost
