Fwd: Timebased predictions in postgresql.
Hi r-people :)
I'm sorry to disturb but I must admit that I know amazingly little about R and
similar statistics-packages/languages and I'm kind of lost on where to start.
I'm currently working on a datacollection framework for postgresql (The db
doesn't really matter except that I hope to use PL/R) and I would like to be
able to predict future values preferable 1 day or more

"smbstatus" reporting strangeness
I've recently added the following line to inetd.conf, to allow clients
to connect at Port 445:
microsoft-ds stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/sbin/smbd smbd -d 1
That works, but the connections that are started that way produce
the machine name "smbd" in the output of "smbstatus". The machines
that connect to the main listener (at port 139, started with

merge(join) problem
I have two datasets:
A with columns Open and Name (and many others, irrelevant to the merge)
B with columns Time and Name (and many others, irrelevant to the merge)
I want the dataset AB with all these columns
Open from A - a difftime (time of day)
Time from B - a difftime (time of day)
Name (same in A & B) - a factor, does NOT index rows, i.e., there are

Extracting only one part of an string
Hi
I wonder if there's a smarter way to do this procedure.
I have a vector of filenames wher I only am interested in the first part of
the filename.
I would use the following method of extracting the first part. But is there
a more simple way of doing this?

ansari.test (one tailed)
Hello.
I am probably wrong... I am wondering if it could have a mistake
in the code of the ansari.test function. For me, it seems that the function
do not recover the p value at the correct side of the normal law N(0, 1) when it
use
the normal approximation (presence of ties) in a one tailed test.
Exemple :
quanti<-c(197, 205, 228, 234, 237, 195, 233, 226, 244, 227, 259, 185, 198, 253,

dovecot 1.0-test-56 mail doesn't show up with Mac Entourage clients
Hi. I'm seeing some issues where Entourage clients can see new mail,
download it (or partially), but won't display the mail in the mailbox
list. Mail shows up as having arrived, but never displays. These clients
have worked in the past with versions of 0.99, but not in 1.0-test-56.
I have dumped the connection traffic and it looks like Entourage aborts
the IMAP session before it

Carrier Access Access Bank 1, incomming calls only echo problems, and Adit 600
I am a little confused about the FXO ports on the Carrier Accesss Bank
1. The wiki, and people on the mailing list have stated that they do not
have impedance matching, but Carrier Access states in their
documentation that they do have impednace matching. Did Carrier Access
make a typo, or does it depend on the version of the FXO card?
I current have a CAC AB1, and I am having echo problems

Could not compute QR decomposition of Hessian.
Hi,
I created the model below, which returns me the following warning message:

WINS querying (Advanced)
Hi all...
I need to make a few queries to WINS, but am unsure how to do so.
'nmblookup' will allow me to enter an IP address and get information about
the machine name, domain, and username. I want to do the opposite...I would
like to have a tool that will take a username and return the IP address.
I know this information is stored in WINS somehow, and I am capable of
writing some Perl

IPFW and SAMBA
What rule would I add to my firewall script in order to keep external
requests for 137,138, and 139, but allow the samba server on the same
machine, to allow requests from the internal network?
I am using FreeBSD 4.4-RELEASE with ipfw and natd.

Time Server?
List,
I've got my Samba box (RedHat 7.2) running NTP client to sync with
PARC. I want my windaz clients to be able to read time from it
automagically. Is there a way to do that? Seems like WinXX clients cannot
use NTP so can how can I sync them with my Samba box (which is accurate to
within 200 ms!)
TIA

A strange error
I am running samba2.2.3a6 on my RedHat7.3 computer. Whenever I try to access it
from my Windows 2000 computer, it says "Network path not found" and the log.smb
reports:

Have any ideas on how to fix this?

A question about [homes]
Hello everyone.
I have a question concerning the [homes] directive.
I've set it up and everything's working fine but there's just a slight
little detail that bothers me, and that is that when I browse my samba
server off a w2k/wXP client I have two shares (I only have [homes] in
my config file as far as shares are concerned) in the root view. That is
\\sambaserver\homes and

resolve_name(644) messages in log.smb file
I am an newby to samba, and I have a user who is getting permission denied
when he attempts to copy files from his PC to his UNIX account. Everything
appears to be working correctly on the samba server. I believe he is the
only one having a problem. I found this message in the log.smb file after
his copy attempt:
