Windows update
Hi!
How do you guys solve windows security updates? Is there a way to force windows
computers to be updated. Even more flexible is if one can update windows through
login script.

Samba Ldap tls/ssl problem
Hi!
I know this should be asked to the Openldap mailing list but:
I?m trying to set up a Samba/ldap environment were the Samba server is separated
from the ldap server. Everything seams to work on the ldap server and when I do
a ldapsearch like this:
ldapsearch -H ldap://l1.dbb.su.se/ -b dc=dbb,dc=su,dc=se ?x
Everything works on both.
But when I do:
ldapsearch -H ldaps://l1.dbb.su.se/ -b

Hi all!
I'm using Debian Sarge with openldap, samba and TLS. I can't figure out if TLS
works or not so please help me out here. The certificate verification is OK.
I installed the server looking at the howtos on idealx.org
I can add users, groups and computers to ldap. I've tried with sucess to add
computer to the domain. Now to the point.
When I do a test like:
ldapsearch -x -ZZ -D

TLS statement
I have a TLS enabled SAMBA/LDAP server. I have a statement and you can tell me
if I?m right or wrong.
Windows clients authenticate to samba with ordinary samba-password. Samba parse
it tls enabled further to the openldap server. Now if I have Samba and ldap on
the same computer the tls is useless in this issue but it?s create between
different server computers. It is also create if one has a

smbd process
We are in the process of updating samba on our Solaris servers from (2.0.5)
to (3.0.2)
I have completed one host and all seems to working ok.
However I have noticed that for both versions of samba, as users map shares
the smbd process which starts can be either own by root or the users id.
This seems to be random.
Can anyone shed light as to what controls the owner of this process. This is

TLSVerifyClient demand or try
Hi all!
I'm very close to have a fully functional samba and openldap. Thanks to
idealx.org. I just need to understand how it works. Everything works accept one
thing. When I change TLSVerifyClient allow to TLSVerifyClient demand in
slapd.conf and do:
ldapsearch -x -ZZ -b 'dc=yourdomain,dc=com' '(objectclass=*)' -d 127
in the end I get:
ldap_chkResponseList for msgid=2, all=1

Howto join Samba-3.0.2a server to a ldapv3
Hi all I really need some help here!
All howtos seams to handle thing if one is going to install everything on one

samba as file server with more than one account server
Hi,
Is it possible to have a samba storage cluster attached to more than one domain?
Maybe a virtual server were each viritual server runs different daemons and
smb.conf files? Is this possible, and would it be to complicated to manage?

samba with cups / security = share
Hi,
I have a new samba/cups printer server. The security is set to SHARE so everyone
in the network can add and print to our printers even if they doesn't have any
account on the server. To be able to upload printer drivers one need to log in
as administrator, but one can't do that unless the security is set to USER and
a login screen appears. During this time everyone is locked out from

Samba-3 openldap gssapi auth to kerberos
Hi!
How do I configure smb.conf and/or Pam as a single sign on server if I have a
LDAP server with a Kerberos as password backend through gssapi?
I only see either Samba/ldap as PDC or Samba/kerberos with ads on the Internet.
Not both at the same time?
I've already configured samba with LDAP and Kerberos support. Everything seams
to works. I also configured Samba with ads and Pam support if

howtos about samba-3 ldap kerberos?
Hi!
I have one ldap/krb-kdc server running. Everything is working.
I also have a samba-3 server running on different computer. I can kinit and get
a ticket from the ldap/krb-kdc server
Now I just need to configure samba and pam to use krb as password backend and
ldap for user and computer info storing.
There's a lot of different howtos out there but no one seams to handle my
request above in

samba nad ldap
Hi everyone!
I have (i think) a fully functional tls enabled samba ldap server. I
used the documenation on www.idealx.org. I can make users and computers
with smbldap-tools but i can't add Windows computers to the domain in
the client end.
smbldap-useradd -w w-eddie
ldapsearch -x generates among other things:

Arrhenius plot with lattice
hello there,
I like to print a theoretical function into my data. It would work with
"panel.curve" when it's all "normal". but unfortunately it's an
arrhenius plot and I need "1000/Temperature"(70-300K) at the x-axis.
With my data it wasn't a Problem but now I have to add this function to
the plot and don't know how to turn around the variable in the

Login and logout auditing
Hi all!
Is there a way of logging date/time/workstation/username for every logon
and logoff in a samba domain?
I realized that it isn't possible to use log level auth for this purpose.
I tried to use connections to netlogon service written on the logs. But I
realized that those connections are closed before the user logs out.
The main idea behind this is to have information enought to

samba with sun's ldap
Hello there
I'm also trying to get Sun Directory Server 5.1 (from Solaris9) to work
with Samba 3.
I've loaded the DS5 schema file (from Samba 3.0.10) into Sun DS5,
however when
Windows attempts to authenticate against Samba, Samba seems to be
sending an invalid
request off to the Sun LDAP server:

How does the UNIX end work?
Hi,
I've been trying to find something on this in the docs but have failed so
far - perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong place and if so please feel
free to reply with a link.
My issue is that files create on a samba share in windows are fine. The
file is created and is accessible by everyone straight away.
But, if I have a unix script create a file on the samba share at the
server end
