smbd/sesssetup.c:reply_spnego_kerberos(173) Failed toverify incoming ticket!
Hi Ryan!
i didn't build samba, i used the binaries shipped with my debian sarge
distro... do you think it's an issue with the kerberos version this
samba is using?

One thing to rule out is that there is a clock difference of greater
than 5 minutes between Samba Domain Member and the DCs. Make sure that
you Samba Domain Member clock has approximately the same time as the DC.
You can do net time set -S dcname/dcip.

Hello!
i have troubles to connect to a samba 3.0.10 which is configured
to be an AD domain member using it's netbios name rather than it's
ip address from a windows 2000 professionall machine with sp4
installed.
the ADS is a w2k server with sp4.
i use MIT kerberos 1.3.6 on a debian sarge machine, which sould not
require a krb5.conf as found in the samba howto collection.

Adding Domain User Accounts to Windows 7 Clients (Samba 3.4.8 PDC)
Hi,
I've searched the logs and google trying to find a fix for my problem
and have so far not succeeded.
I've got a Samba PDC (Debian Lenny), running Samba 3.4.8 from Debian
Backports. It is using an OpenLdap backend. We have encountered little
to no problems over the last several years. And of course, we have to
upgrade to Windows 7 (64-bit), from XP-64. So, here we are.

Preventing deletion of folders under a SAMBA share: SOLVED
Thanks for this. Yes this does work nicely, however the main reason
things weren't going to plan was quite simple. I had set force user =
root, in an attempt to ensure that all new folders were owned by root -
silly I know, but somehow overlooked, and was forcing each user to be
connected as root - doh!
All I need to accomplish now, is to prevent deletion of any folder
created by a user -

I've run into this. It's a real bear. I've found that a proper WINS
setup is very useful, but more important is to find out what is going
on during the wire transactions. Google the appropriate one of these
tools for your platform:
NM33_x64.exe
NM33_x86.exe
install it and see what's occuring during the transactions. Post

modification time inconsistency
Hello,
I have a client with a windows utility that relies on "touch"ing (changing
the mod time) on zero-length files in a folder for the purpose of judging
when that folder was last accessed. This works fine for him on mapped
windows servers, and from the local disk, but from a Samba (v3.0.22) volume,
the mod time doesn't change unless there was an actual data change within

ext3/kjournald overhead
Hi,
I've recently installed ext3 on an 800MB RAID5
(software) array. I am running RedHat Linux 7.1 with
the Linux kernel 2.4.12-ac3 on a 1GHz Pentium system
with 128MB RAM. I am seeing a significant amount of
write operation slowdown when running ext3 (and
kjournald), as opposed to my old ext2. The problem
seems to be associated with the times that kjournald
is accessing the disk. At

winbind withoutt PAM
As I understood from Samba documentation winbind can run without PAM
installed; PAM is needed only if I need interactive login in the Unix
box of NT domain users. Am I correct?

CLDAP using CPU alltime on Samba 4.8.4
Hi,
My Samba AD-DC installation is using CPU all time on a process. I'm trying
everything to fix it, but without success.
It started when using it on Ubuntu 16.04, I upgraded o Ubuntu 18.04, and
now Ubuntu 18.10, that is using Samba 4.8.4 and the problem persist.
Using samba-tool process, I could see that the process using resources is
CLDAP.
I did samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs

Preventing deletion of folders under a SAMBA share
I am trying to set up a basic Samba server and configure it so that
folders under a share cannot be deleted accidentally by a user. The
ideal scenario would be to have the top-level folders under the share
non-deleteable, but folders and files are able to be created under it.
I cannot find any easy way of doing this directly, but thought that the
use of the 'veto' option would work

security=share, write / read-only mix doesn't work on Samba3
Hi,
I'm having trouble migrating from Samba2 to Samba3. I'm trying to make
a share that allows some users read-only access, and others
read-write. In version 2.2 this worked, but not in version 3.
I'm pretty sure it's my configuration, but I ran into this link on the
samba bugzilla site, and now I don't know.

Groups with Samba domain controler or domain member
Does anybody know more about groups? I am considering switching from NT
to Samba domain and have made some test. Unfortunately I need to make
two additional groups, except Domain Admin (one of them is Domain
Users). Is it possible to make that with the stable version of Samba?
And another, but not so important (for now) question. Currently I have a
Samba server, providing files and printers

ADS mode / MIT realm trust problem (3.0.20b)
Hi,
A final repost of the below issue -- we still are not making any
progress. It is unclear whether we need to be using winbind -- I don't
believe so, and the Terpstra Samba 3 book doesn't suggest that this is
necessary in this configuration; but please correct me if my
preconception is flawed.
If this is the 'wrong place' to ask -- any suggestions about where I

Upgrade from samba 3.0.4 to 3.0.6 broke file sharing
system is redhat 9 on a dell power edge 2450 running latest krb5 and
openldap rpm
It worked perfectly on 3.0.4 but arcserve wouldn't back up so I upgraded
to 306 and everything installed correctly but now when you try and
connect to the server it pops the user login box up. I can run net ads
user -U Administrator and log in with my admin password and it lists all
my user accounts. I can add
