permissions modified on shared excel files
Having difficulty with samba & permissions being changed when windows clients save files. Initially files may be shared 0774 (e.g. some excel file) after it is opened and saved by a windows client the permissions are 0744. Thus the next access by a group user cannot write the file. No mask options are specified in the smb.conf so all defaults are being used. Is there a reason why the

Samba 2.2.6pre2 + ldapsam + Solaris 9
Hi, I've been unable to get samba to work with ldap over ssl or tls on a solaris 9 machine. I thought that the ldap in solaris 9 supports tls natively now. However I still get the error in my log file : > [2002/09/02 16:35:10, 0] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldap_open_connection(202) > ldap_open_connection: Secure connection not supported by LDAP client > libraries! > [2002/09/02

1.2.3pre2 works great on Solaris 2.7 except man
Right out of the box (after I made Damien's LDFLAGS fix in configure) using gcc-2.95.2. The only problem I have now is the man pages. I still can't read them using Solaris nroff, and when I tried to build with --with-catman=cat, I got the following during a make install: /rtr/bin/install -c -m 644 ssh.[01].out /usr/local/man/cat1/ssh.1 Try `/rtr/bin/install --help' for more

extracting nested variances from lme4 model
I have a model: mod1<-lmer( x ~ (1|rtr)+ trth/(1|cs) , data=dtf) # Here, cs and rtr are crossed random effects. cs 1-5 are of type TRUE, cs 6-10 are of type FALSE, so cs is nested in trth, which is fixed. So for cs I should get a fit for 1-5 and 6-10. This appears to be the case from the random effects: > mean( ranef(mod1)$cs[[1]][1:5] ) [1] -2.498002e-16 > var(

Hi, I've a problem in connecting samba 2.2.5 to LDAP with ldap ssl = start_tls. I've already patched the file pdb_ldap.c and configure.in and run autconf (as described in the Samba-LDAP-PDC howto). However, doing a rpcclient servername -U root%password -c "enumprinters" shows this in the log: [2002/08/23 16:50:44, 0] passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldap_open_connection(181) Failed to
