Thunderbird 24.0 for Windows seems to ignore Samba4.0.9 permissions settings
Hi,
I have a CentOS 6.4 fileserver running SerNet Samba 4.0.9 with these
global settings (not overridden):
read only = No
force create mode = 0777
force directory mode = 0777
inherit acls = yes
inherit owner = yes
inherit permissions = yes
On a Windows client, I have Thunderbird 24.0 storing its profile and

file permissions with inherit permission + ACL's
Hi,
I have a share (testshare) where different unix groups (testgroup1,
testgroup2) should have access to. But I want that new files are only
created with 660 permissions.
Here are the ACL's of testshare:
# file: testshare
# owner: ralfgro
# group: ve
user::rwx
group::rwx
group:testgroup1:rwx
group:testgroup2:rwx

AD + winbindd(8): group permissions being ignored ? WTF ?
Hi all,
I am successfully authenticating "FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #1: Wed Jul 25
17:31:15 WST 2007" against AD. Users can log in succesfully with home
directories being served via amd(8) and NFS. However, I have discovered
a potential "show-stopper" that will force me to abort this mission :(
The problem

I've got a share where I needed the permissions to be 770 and I think an Apple Mac computer is connecting to a Samba share and changing the permissions each day.
At the end of the day, I'll set permissions to:

File Permissions and delivery
Hi
I'm very new to Dovecot (been using Courier for 5 years), but I've been persuaded of the merits of Dovecot and since the server needs upgrading that seems like the perfect time/excuse.
On a test server, I set up postfix and installed Dovecot (running 32-bit Debian Squeeze, installed from apt-get). I mirrored the mail store (Maildirs, for historical reasons located under

windows permissions
G'day All,
After searching the archive I am no closer to achieving what I want.
I've seen lots of posts that suggest this can be achieved but the
methods used don't work for me. I won't pretend I understand linux or
samba permissions because every time I think I've got it, I turn out to
be wrong. So here goes.
Let's say I have 3 users & 2 groups.
each group has

Webalizer displays wrong year
I just run webalizer manually on an Apache log, like I have done many times
before. Some new statistics were created, but for "August 2006" instead of
"August 2008". I cannot figure why!
Because of my mistake, the webalizer statistics for this site have not been
updated since February. Now I tried to update them for the first time - with
the results I described above.

Linux permissions vs Samba permissions
Okay, admittedly I'm running an old version 2.0.5, but, why do I have to set
the eXecute permission in Linux before Samba will let a Windows client see
any files? Why would execute have anything to do with read and/or write? I
would think I could set -rw-rw---- or -rw-rw-rw- and be just fine, but oh
no, you get an empty list and cannot create new files until I change it
to -rwxrwx--- or

Samba4: s3fs sticky bit file ownership problem
Hi
I want all files created in a share to be group owned by a group called
staff. To do this I have a share called reports which is chmod g+s staff:
drwxrws---+ 9 root staff 4096 Jun 18 11:15 reports
If I create a file from Linux, the sticky bit works:
-rw-rw----+ 1 steve2 staff 0 Jun 18 10:57 stevelinux.txt
If I create it under windows, it doesn't:
-rwxrwx---+ 1 steve2 Domain

For the last one users should'nt have access.
I test with fx.: user=staffuser, primarygroup: users, member of group: staff

Hello All.
Samba ver 3.0.25b-1.1.cc

Values for Create Mask?
We're running Samba 3.0.4.0 on AIX 5.2 and I am using the create mask
value in the smb.conf to try and set the default permissions but I can't
seem to get the values right.
I want the default permissions to be rwxrwx---
Setting the mask to 770 gets me rwxrw----
I've tried several options but can't seem to get the execute value on
the group.
If someone can either let me know

Bizarre - How did windows user setfacl for a file??
Listmates,
In 8 years, since 2.02 (I think), I have never seen this behavior out of
samba. I run a stand-alone server with WinXP clients. Somehow a legal assistant
created (not intentionally mind you) files and directories with ACL attributes set:

Samba 4.1 gentent, ls, no display domain user name on Primary ACDC but wbinfo -u yes
Hello friends:
I hope you can help me with this I'm struggling a year ago
After breaking my head migrating a server with Samba Samba 2.1 to 4.1 all stay perfect and functional.
All files are in this domain controller for now, and then be moved to a domain member, "the file server".
I configure the server as ADDC Samba 4.1 and up here all went well, the shares, the users, winbind,

NTFS-type directory permissions
I apologize if this is an easy question. I am a samba newbie and the
answer was not really clear to me from reading chpt 12 of the
documentation.
We recently moved from a Windows 2000 file server to a Samba(3.0.4)
file server running on Solaris. We have about 20 top-level
directories with lots of subdirectories. Right now, we have the
security setup so that people can only get to the top-level

IMAP Folder permissions
Hello,
Happy new year.
I have a dovecot with exim installation. I am using virtual users for
mail and IMAP.
When dovecot creates a folder from imap user the permissions are
rwx------
I need them to be rwxrwx---
Is there a way to change this in the configuration file ?
TIA
