Recently joined 2k3, shut down primary, seized roles, now have slight dns (maybe) problem.
Hello All,
As per the subject, we have recently joined a w2k3 domain folowing
instructions on wiki as well as well as relying on valuble information on
the list. The steps we took were the following:
Join samba as secondary
Created dns records by hand (ldbsearch, samba-tool dns add)
Checked replication
Copied sysvol
Transferred some roles from windows

ADS Authentication - CLDAP request failed
I have a RHEL 5 system, with Samba 3.0.33 installed, that _used_ to
authenticate against the corporate Active Directory system without any
problems. However, about a month ago the connection broke, but the users
didn't complain until some time went buy. I've spent quite a few hours
trying to reconnect this system, but nothing works. I do not believe it is
a simple configuration problem,

Hello,
So I've successfully established a two ways interdomain trust
relationship between a SAMBA PDC and a Windows domain. It was working
fine: for example a windows user was able to connect on a share on the
SAMBA server.

SID_TO_UID not working
Hello everyone,
I use winbind against a Samba DC for nsswich, and on one client it works
perfectly (Samba 3.5.15 on all systems). On another client, everything works
except SID_TO_UID (i.e. wbinfo -i, -S ... which breaks directory listings,
too). I've now tried to narrow down the problem in a level 10 log, but I need
some help interpreting. In log.winbindd, I see the following when

sid_to_uid: Domain controller lookup missing
Hi,
trying to investigate my xfs-acl problem I think I have found the
missing part:
In smbd/uid.c the function "sid_to_uid" resolves SIDs to unix user
names. This is done as follows:
- First the domain part of the SID is compared to the local domain (if
the SID belongs to the samba server it can be resolved locally)
- In any other cases winbindd is asked
This works well if the

sid_to_uid/public share problem
I've got a public share that any user is supposed to be able to access. But no
matter who I try to connect as, I get the dreaded: "NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER".
Important info: Samba version: 3.0.28a, OS: Kubuntu 8.04
Looking at the logs, I think the problem is here:
auth/auth_util.c:create_token_from_username(1116)

[LLVMdev] Cygwin llvm-gcc-4.2 regression
Hi,
I don't seem to be able to solve this regression with llvm-gcc-4.2 on
Cygwin.
It is weird as I thought I had checked SVN TOT and had a good build just
before the branch was corrected, so am confused.
If someone more experienced with debugging could have a look at this, its
like a syntax error. I have tried whittling the error down but it just
moves.

about roaming profiles and windows xp, vista
Hi,
I know this question is FAQ, I set up samba PDF before and still run
well, and now I need to create another PDC for another branch office.
I have search the MAILLIST and google, but I still can't figure out
what happened and how to fix it.
I can join into samba PDC but while I sign on Windows Xp and Vista, it
will show such like as following

How to resolve conflicts between Cocoa and WineLib...?!
Hello
Can you please tell me if it is possible to resolve the following Cocoa framework / WineLib 1.3.20 conflicts?
I am trying to a port a game from Windows to OS X and I would like to use WINE's Windows Kernel32 library implementation in a Cocoa application [Embarassed]
I think I can probably solve the problem by creating a C++ code only Cocoa framework and linking it with WineLib and my

SRC=/, include a few directories and exclude everything else
Hi,
I am currently backing up a few Linux boxes, and a Windows XP box, using
rsync (through a cron job).
Regarding the Windows box ( Windows XP (running Cygwin) <--> Debian
Testing), so far I specify a few directories as sources in the rsync
command line. I then use an excludes file to include certain directories
and exclude others.
I was wondering, can I just specify / as the source and

Samba suddenly restart and replication does not works anymore
I'd check for differences in the ldap trees with
samba-tool ldapcmp first
If such are found try an manual full sync replication to fix the difference.
I had an similar issue a while back and an deleted object on one dc
caused such sigterm's.
Had to get that deleted object out of the way afterwards the dc's where
stable again.

net use z: \\sambapdc\share1 <file:///\\sambapdc\share1>
However I still get prompted for a user name and password. I don't seem
to have a way to force the "net" command to connect anonymously.
If I can force an anonymous connection from Windows, then I should be OK.
(Again, this share does not contain information that needs much protection.)
Thanks

Windows permissions
I think I'm fairly good with Linux (since 1991) but mostly clueless
with Windows. When I need Windows help, the Web has been my savior.
But not this time...
I have three Windows 10 boxes which I can successfully access
using xfreerdp so I presume I know the available users and
passwords. However, trying to access with winexe is proving difficult.

SAMBA 3.0.21c (domain is LINBOXTEXT)

Hello,
I've established an interdomain trust relationship between SAMBA and
Windows.
Samba domain users can log into the Windows domain, but Windows domain
users can't log to the SAMBA server.
For example, if I try to log as "ADTEST/dupond" from Windows to SAMBA,
SAMBA log says:

TR : Connection Issue - Samba 3.0.2a Solaris 6 - NT4 SP 6
Hi all,
First, here is a small description of our environnement :
We have a PDC running a domain. let's call this server pdc01. All of our
users are defined in the domain.
We have a Unix server hosting a database. Let's call this server unix01. All
users can access this server and use the database. They are allowed of
generating report which are stored in their home directory on unix01.
