100% CPU eaten -- tdb_fetch failed
Hello,
From time to time Samba 3.0.2 performance suddenly fails bellow
what is acceptable.
One smbd process eats between 30% and 100% of CPU usage, and
for the machine associated with the smbd process i got
dozens of (debug level 2):

Newbie to 3.0.1 and having problems
I have just upgraded from samba 2.2.7a to 3.0.1. For this upgrade I backed up my old
samba installation, installed the new configuration and copied over the contents of
the private directory which was secrets.tdb and smbpasswd. I ran testparm and
everything seemed fine so I run samba and H drives come back up perfectly.
I think I have 3 issues:

I noticed in /var/adm/messages that entries

Memory allocation error: failed to expand to 1108555744 bytes
I saw the following log entry when connecting to a print share on a

I assume the attempt to allocate 1Gb+ of RAM has got to be wrong?

Dear Samba team,
I?d like to a report a bug (INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in smbd) that I
encountered with Samba after uploading printer drivers to the PRINT$ share,
while I was configuring the ?Printing Defaults? in the ?Advanced? tab.
Here?s the overview of the Samba server I use:

Hello. I have a samba server setup with 3.0.2a-r1.
It was working just fine, then suddenly, I cannot connect to any of my shares
on my server with smbmount. Everytime I try to connect, I get this error:

The password prompt comes up, I put it in, it hangs

Fedora, Cups, print$, and Windows XP - Oh my :) Round 2 - FIGHT
Hello from Canada!
I'm posting again about a problem I posted about in February, I'll repost
the message here, with updated information. When I read that it was a
possible/probably bug with Samba, I decided to wait a while and see if it
wasn't hashed out by now. It doesn't appear to be fixed (or I messed up).
Anyways, here is the information with updates. A "*" indicates

Add Printer Wizard problem
Hi,
I really need help.
I tried to create a CUPS server but always failed to install Windows
driver on the Server from Windows client using Add Printer Wizard.
The error message from the Windows client is: "Unable to install HP
Laserjet 4050, Windows 2000, Intel server. Operation could not be completed"
Currently I set the printer installed on CUPS server as a local printer,

printjob stays in windows queue after transfer failure
Hi Jerry et al,
I'm using the 3.0.1 release in 'ADS' mode with ~450 print queues and ~150
users (getting migrated right now, will be ~3.000 in the end). In general
everything works fine apart from some smaller driver configuration
problems, the usual stuff. Though I see a lot of errors in the log files
and it seems that sometimes the print job transfer fails (get 'zero

Issues after upgrade to 3.0.6 from 3.0.4; fixed in 3.0.7?
Hello,
I run samba 3.0.4 on a RHL9 server. Samba is a domain member of a W2k3 ADS
and I use CUPS as printing mechanism; therefore Samba is compiled with
Kerberos 1.3.1-7 and cups-devel.
3.0.4 runs pretty good, printing via CUPS runs well too, only the following
messages I see constantly (this flooding my logs) while using 3.0.4:

3.0.10 with printing patch, NULL devmode, failing to fetch tdb and buffer overflow
Hi Jerry, hi @all,
some users with 3.0.10 with printing patch have problems with old printjobs in her status monitor in windows. Loglevel 10 shows two problems:
1. The devmode for this printer was not set properly (I know, thiswill cause problems).
log.smbd:
[2005/01/05 14:02:09, 8] rpc_parse/parse_spoolss.c:smb_io_reldevmode(2407)
boing, the devmode was NULL
2. A buffer overflow is logged.

Unable to enable Add/Remove Printer Drivers (3.0.0)
I used to be able to load printer drivers via "server properties". Now
when I go in the printer drivers are listed and I can use the properties
button but the Add/Remove buttons are greyed out. This is a Samba
3.0.0/2.4.2-SGI_XFS_1.0 box and I've tried both NT4sp6 and Win2003beta
clients (both exhibit the same behaviour).
I see the following in the log when I connect to

Winbind + Samba 3 + ADS
Good day,
I apologise for the long post but I think all is relevant.
Any help would be appreciated. My smb.conf global section at the bottom.
Thanks.
Has anyone set up Samba 3 using winbindd to authenticate on 2003 Active
Directory?
Winbind appears to working correctly.
