custom print processing
Hi all, I've got a printserver working using cups/samba,ADS. I'm want to pass any jobs through a custom script which will do various things, including checking user quotas from a custom database (I know there are print quota solutuions out there that will fit in nicely with cups and samba, but I need to do this a different way due to some custom things we need to do) I've tried

SYSLINUX PXE LOCALBOOT Bitlockers
do you mean it cant be circumvented from the perspective of syslinux or TPM? Sadly firmware exploits are rampant. Core Security has good research on this as phrack... SMM can be gotten to by far too much. Tho if you are targeted by that skill level then going to ic3 might be good idea. -------- Original message -------- From: Ian Bannerman <ian at internals.io> Date:04/29/2014 2:43 PM

SYSLINUX PXE LOCALBOOT Bitlockers
Any deviation from the expected boot process will prevent BitLocker from accessing the volume key in the TPM. One reason this behavior exists is to prevent malicious code from being loaded (such as via booting first to CD / USB / PXE, loading malware, and then continuing to boot to Windows). So what's happening here is the deviation from firmware -> PXE -> HDD is detected and the volume

Redhat 8 Samba+CUPS
Hi all. In the interest of using a more mainstream business distribution, I changed my faithful file/printserver over to Redhat 8.0 from Debian Testing. Now, my shared directories are working fine but printing is not working. I can browse to the printer using net view or Network Neighborhood in Windows or using smbclient -L in Linux but printing is not working. I've checked

SYSLINUX PXE LOCALBOOT Bitlockers
That's a great question, actually, I should have remembered to mention that! You can control what factors are used for the TPM's integrity check to release the bitlocker key on boot. Depending on whether your on a BIOS or EFI machine, there are slight differences, but definitely controllable by group policy. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee706521(v=ws.10).aspx#BKMK_depopt3 I

Changing printer properties caused infinite loop (samba-2.2.7, cups-1.1.16, Solaris 2.8)
Hi, we have a samba printserver 2.2.7 with cups 1.1.16 with about 15 HP Printers. The samba server runs under Solaris 2.8 and is a member of a NT4 controlled domain. Because of some problems setting the document defaults, I tried cupsaddsmb with the Adobe PS driver. The installation of the driver works fine, but some document defaults (eg. download as softfont instead of substitute with

Every query I make about the domain works However, I'm trying to add a domain user (me) to my local Print Operators group on this freebsd machine. Fwd: SOLVED [cups] print_job: Unsupported format "application/octet-stream"

can't create printers after upgrading cups
After upgrading cups on my CentOS 6 systems from version 1.4.2-72.el6 to 1.4.2-77.el6, I am no longer able to create working printers, either with lpadmin from the command line or with system-config-printer. When I try to run lpadmin, I get this simple error: [root at vlsi66 ~]# lpadmin -p newprinter -v lpd://printserver/serverqueue-E -P /path/to/ppd/thing.ppd lpadmin: Unknown [root at vlsi66

Re: [cups.general] Re: Windows Clients keep finished jobs in Queue
I'm also seeing this problem. We're running samba 3.0.7 with CUPS 1.1.20. The clients printing are WinXP Professional SP1. The jobs printed are still displayed in the Windows printer status window, even though it's been printed already and disappears from the CUPS printer queue list.
