sambaPwdMustChange
Hi, i have samba 3.0.10 installed with LDAP. I noticed few days ago that my adminsitrator account has expired. I think it's because of the sambaPwdMustChange field of LDAP. I changed the passwd now i have the value 1108741705 in it. What does it mean (when will i be prompted again to change my passwd) and do i have to put in this field so that the password will never expire ? Thanks for

sambaLMPassword
I have a Samba-PDC installation (version is 3.6.3) with openLDAP. When I change the password from a client (Windows/XP and Windows/7) the attribute "sambaNTPassword" is changed and I can log-in with the new pssword. The problem is that the content of the attribute "sambaLMPassword" is deleted. I remember that in my previous version of Samba (3.0.28) both attributes were

calculating passwords, and what to do with sambaLMPassword
Hi, I'm trying to calculate the passwords so i can change them from a php-gui, an as i see it, userPassword can have any form if the cryptation algorithm is stated before the hash, like "{md5}blahblah32bit". In the docs, it states that sambaNTPassword is a md4 hash, wich should be calculatable (haven't done it yet though). And last for the sambaLMPassword: I can't find

sambaLMPassword needed?
Hi I have upgraded or old samba PDC (debian lenny) to samba (debian wheezy). We use openldapto authenticate ,our linux and windows users. Now I see that if I create a new user the smbpasswd (in a script) does not create the sambaLMPassword attribute anymore. Do we still need it. I have read some info about it but its not clear if its still needed or not Thankyou for any help

Hi, i upgraded from Debian sarge to etch, so from samba 3.0.14a-3 to 3.0.24 When someone creates/modify a file the user attribut is set to r (instead of rwx) so the next time a user opens the file is's on read only. samba3+openldap:Problem during the LDAP search
Hi, I'm trying to use samba3+openldap as our PDC. I installed the server using CentOS4.4 single service CD and then use yum install openldap-servers to install openldap server. I already ran "smbpasswd -w secret". When I invoked "smbpasswd -a root" the following error showed up: [root@localhost samba]# smbpasswd -a root smbldap_search_suffix: Problem during the LDAP

LDAP auth not working
I'm on OS X running samba 3.0.10. That's what ships with Tiger and so far I haven't had much luck getting it to compile from source... I have an LDAP tree set up and working for general UNIX authentication. Now I'm trying to get SAMBA working as a PDC. Once I loaded the Samba schema extension, I thought smbpasswd -a would do the SAMBAfication of a user, but it complained that

Problems with userPassword when it's base64 encoded
I'm switching from OpenLDAP to the newly released Fedora Directory Server (formely known as the Netscape Directory Server) as a LDAP backend for my Samba domain. I'm now faced with a problem regarding how Fedora DS handles the userPassword field. Unlike OpenLDAP it encodes it in base64 so instead of reading userPassword: {SSHA}0lP+r3Z1NVan7Caf4CG9oSgnTbQRrv/p it reads: userPassword::

update_all Not Incrementing lock_version
Shouldn''t update_all be updating lock_version? As you can see from my console session below, it is upating the record (changed running attribute to true and returned 1 to show 1 recored was updated). But it did not increment lock_version. And optimistic locking is working correctly otherwise. As you can see below, lock version = 562 before and after the update_all call but it is
