Problem adding user to Administrator list
Hi, all,
We are using Samba 3.0.10 with an LDAP backend.
It's been working fine for a long time.
One strange thing that has come up today : I cannot add 1 specific domain
user to the local Administrator group of Windows servers that are also in
the domain.
Adding the user to the admin group on a workstation works just fine.
Adding other users to the admin group on the Windows servers

No, isn't. but you have to try; 'cos, in my opinion, of course, you
won't login in bdc;
but, the roaming profiles (home directory) must be in pdc;
if that works, you will try set (in bdc):
logon path = \\PDC\blablabla... (for win

Samba - LDAP - User cannot login from 1 workstation
Hello, everyone,
This is the situation :
We have 2 sites; one domain; 2 samba's on every site; one is PDC, the
other is BDC.
They both use LDAP; the LDAP has a master on the site where the PDC is;
the slave LDAP is on the site where the BDC is.
There is a user (ONE to be precise) that gives problems when working on a
specific machine.
When the user logs in using his machine; he

No smb.conf file !
Good morning all,
I configured samba 3 on a Red Hat machine, I then
built and installed it.
The problem is that after installation has finished, I
couldn't find the samba configuration file smb.conf.
Any idea please?

Registry on server
Hi, all,
I can connect to the 'registry' of our Samba server using regedt32;
I can't however change/add entries even though I start the program as
Domain Admin.
I get the message "Cannot create key. Error writing to the registry"
Does anybody have any idea what could cause this ?
Or is this expected behaviour
I have also found references on the net that one can add

Replicated LDAP
Hello,
I would like to have a central LDAP-Server in my main office and a
replicated one in my satellite office, connected via VPN. Then I want my
SAMBA-PDC in the satellite to use the local LDAP. I think this should
end in:

ntlm_auth with require-membership-of not working
Hi,
The latest samba from sernet was installed on a new CentOS server.
ntlm_auth is implemented with pptpd. ntlm_auth always return success
whenever group, username and password are correct. No matter the user
is in the group or not. Is it a bug or I missed something?
The following is detail of my settings and testing result from command line.

[PATCH] Add some libgcc stuff to ia64's Makefile.inc
Hi,
Here is a fix for some missing libgcc magic in the ia64 build. A recent
problem with udev uncovered this. PPC needs a similar fix. Olaf will
send a patch, I imagine.
Both unified diff and bk diff (for Bryan) are attached.

Printer driver downloads...?
I've been googling around for quite some time, and haven't managed to find
anything useful. Is there some moderately up-to-date information on how
to set up the automatic print-driver download in Samba 2.2.x? I know about
the "old way" of doing things, but it doesn't seem to fly with Win2K drivers.
Any and all help, and pointers to FD so I can RTFD (again, haven't had

Dear gentlemen,
Can you explain me why the following happens (any OS I think, and even

Rsync via ssh hangs on same file repeatedly
Hi all,
I'm having problems with an rsync via ssh process hanging during transfer.
The basic problem, (gory details to follow):
I've set up a machine on my LAN to act as the receiver and have two
(soon to be more) remote servers transferring files via a script.
It seems as if certain files are causing the transfer to hang. These
are different files on each of the sending machines,

Centos 8 server rebooting...
Can someone provide some guidance with my server, I have a fairly new
centos 8 server, pretty much just a KVM host but I have noticed that its
dumping and rebooting at various times. Journalctl does not go back past
the reboot so I am unable to catch what may be causing it, it appears to be
KVM from /var/log/messages and it appears I should have a kernel dump file
but I am unable to find it. I
