Users with changed passwords can connect locally, but not remotely
Hi. I've just run into a very strange problem with a Samba server. I'm running version 3.0.2a, which came with Yellow Dog Linux (a Mac that originally ran OS X server, but that I like better with Samba). I migrated a complete Samba configuration from an old server, including the entire /etc/samba directory and all user accounts, making sure that the UIDs all matched (and, while

Samba not recognizing secondary groups
Hi all. I'm having a strange issue with a server running Samba 3.0.2a. The server has a single share, and under that are subfolders that contain documents. Each subfolder is owned by a different folder-specific group, and users belong to the groups that own the folders to which they need access. But suddenly one user can't access any folders. Windows (the client) suggests that she

Unable to connect to smb shares from second machine in workgroup
I have a pretty simply home LAN with a Linux box (Mandrake 9.1) and 2 XP boxes. The workgroup is named UNIVERSE and the machines are earth (Linux), voyager (XP) and starbase (XP). (smb.conf has security=user). Voyager can browse over to \\earth\share no problem. Recently I connected starbase to my LAN using a wireless router. When on starbase I cannot browse to \\earth\share. When I do so I

Add support for Variables
Was just looking at a number of my scripts ( due to having to update them for RH5). Would it be possible to add support for variables / 2 variables HTTP_SERVER (scope should be global in "default" but local elsewhere, could maybe pe passed as an argument to vesamenu.c32 and menu.c32 (i think its only of use for people using these files.)) isolinux menu32 (Re: Problems booting on Intel i9x5 motherboards.)
See: http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2006-May/006887.html I think I've tracked the problem down a bit more specifically. In edd.S when the kernel calls int 0x13 with %dl=80 [primary disk] & %al=1 [read one sector] and ah set to READ_SECTORS it never returns. However, the following code [which does drive diagnostics] works. mov $0x7E, %al call prtchr movw $0x0000, %ax movb

I get a lot of these in my log, especially when I am moving lots of traffic across the vpn: Sep 20 10:45:11 titan tinc.tdvpns[16152]: Got late or replayed packet from holden (xx.yy.zz.ww port 655), seqno 37609, last received 37610 (sequence numbers displayed generally differ by only one) What exactly is this trying to say? File Disappearance after copy?
Hi. I'm converting a group that was using Mac OS X Server (we were dissatisfied) to Mandrake PPC Linux with Samba. The Mandrake-supplied package is version 2.2.7a-8mdk. So far it works great - but we have a serious and odd problem that I couldn't find in previous postings to this list. When I copy files from an OS X server to this Mandrake/Samba server they usually disappear. Which is

After ordering the table of membership degrees , i must get the difference between the first and second coloumns , between the first and second largest membership degree of object i. This for K=2,K=3,....to K.max=6. This difference is multiplyed by the Crisp silhouette index vector (si). PXELINUX and WDS (The Proper WAY)
After about 15 hours, a packet sniffer and a ton of google searching later, I have a solution to getting WDS (Windows Deployment Services) to work with PXELINUX Google didn't turn up anything of use directly, everything that was referenced appeared to be related to starting pxelinux from either WDS or RIS. That just won't do, since they often can give hiccups and lockups when

virtio for 9.1-R
Hi guys, I can't see virtio in releng/9.1, is there any particular reason why it isn't going to be included given that it works reasonable well (and is optional anyway, so not likely to be detrimental)? Thanks, Joe

Duplicate Email with Dovecot Sieve
I am trying to use Dovecot Sieve after upgrading Dovecot from 1.0.15 to 1.2.17. I used the same config file from the old version but I added some entries to make sieve work. In my initial tests, sieve works and is able to do the actions that I set it to do. However, I get 2 copies of incoming emails. The inbox would always preserve a copy even if the sieve filter is set to transfer emails to

RIS UNDI
Hello, I'm still trying to setup RIS (Remote Installation Service -w2k) with PXE Linux, but before that I must say that the mail list archive is a _good_ idea. Back to RIS. When I start from pxelinux memdisk initrd=risbootdisk.img I get an error: No UNDI Driver found. The risbootdisk.img is a bootdisk from Microsoft, which starts a RIS installation. When I boot from floppy it works fine,

Samba 3 as PDC and a Windows 2000 Server for RIS
Hello, I would like to install a Windows 2000 Server and configure it with RIS (remote installation services). The server is in a domain where a Samba 3 server, a machine with SuSE Linux and Samba 3.0.20b-3.4-SUSE, plays the PDC role. The PDC works well. When I try to configure RIS in the application wizard (appwiz.cpl) of that Windows 2000 Server machine, it tells me that the setup for RIS

PXElinux and tftp path prefix
I want to chain multiple servers with pxelinux initiated from a ris server. (Correct me if i'm wrong) The Ris server sends a tftp-path-prefix location where the pxelinux.cfg is searched. On the ris server I have entries like: label server2 kernel 192.168.1.2::pxelinux.0 This fetches the pxelinux from server2 but the pxeconfig.cfg from server1 is used. Can I overrule this with an
